Good morning Lounge
Edited on Mon Jun-22-09 02:10 AM by MissHoneychurch
How are you today? How was your weekend?

So I went to work Saturday morning .... only to find out I was supposed to work Friday evening ... Ooops  ... I apologized profoundly and worked Saturday evening. And coming Saturday again from 3pm till 10.30pm. At least I can sleep in :D
So on Saturday I got a lot of stuff done till I had to show up at the store again. I cleaned my place, watered my plants, washed my clothes ... I am so proud of me :)

Sunday I just slept and relaxed.

Now is Monday again and I already wish it would be Friday already ....

1. Hey, MissHoneychurch....
...just saw you over on facebook. I'm starting to nod off, but am so glad to see you before I go to bed.

Glad you got your house in order. Something I'm WAY overdue in doing. I cracked some ribs about 3 weeks ago, and have been hobbling around since then. Mrs Robeson is starting to lose her sense of humor in having to do everything, so I need to get well soon!

I miss our talks, but at least I got to see you before bedtime...:-)

I miss our chats too but at least I know we are still friends :loveya:

When I fly to the U.S. I try to avoid Lufthansa. I prefer flying with USAir who uses Airbus and the on-board entertainment program is way better by now.

Continental is very nice though. Very nice people and good service.

I emailed my mom and will find out where her friend lives in Germany and then bring up a possible trip.

Right now we're planning her coming down here again in a week or two. Here is a pic of morning at the KW airport (not today; this was taken last winter.)

25. I am annoyed by Lufthansa
had to fly a couple of times with them even though I booked with another airline. But due to delays I got stuck with Lufthansa. I think their service is poor for the price one normally has to pay with them. Even though they use Airbus planes they still have only the couple of TV's for all customers and show only one movie. USAir has in-seat TV's and one can decide when and what to watch. It might be a silly reason but it is important to me.

That is a fantastic pic :wow:

I haven't flown Lufthansa in some time; I always thought they have the best looking cabin crews:evilgrin:

We have a local agreement with USAir and Delta, so I can fly them as well. Since my mom lives in Charlotte, we may look at that option.

Glad you liked the pic. Every morning is beautiful here, but that day was so pretty because of the rainbow. I think it was in October I took it, in the aftermath of a tropical storm that had blown through. So far this year, no storms yet.:scared:

Yup, USAir is flying nonstop Charlotte-Frankfurt.

I think the worst airport is Philly. So far every time I flew over Philly the plane was delayed. Last time it made me miss my flight to Frankfurt.

Well yeah, I hope Airbus gets its act together and corrects its mistakes at the planes

to fly from Frankfurt International than from Frankfurt-Hahn (that is were RyanAir is) with all the extra expenses to get there. I mean RyanAir is ripping people off. The flight itself is cheap but they make sure you pay for every other service. They even thought about charging for using the bathroom during the flight ....

19. Mornin' Miss H
I had a relaxing weekend. I mostly just goofed off, but I did get a few things done that needed doing.

I am going to look at 3 houses this morning. Two of them are small condos and one is a 3 bedroom house that is a government owned foreclosure. The condos are potential rentals and the larger house is potentially a new home for me. I'm either going to become a landlord or I'm going to play it safe and just buy a bigger home for me.

Here is the real estate listing of the home I would like to buy if it looks okay and I want to play it safe.

http://dayton.rapmls.com/scripts/mgrqispi.dll?APPNAME=Dayton&PRGNAME=MLSPropertyDetail&ARGUMENTS=-N141683960,-N342574,-N,-A,-N15743313

It looks like it needs a little work, but if it's not too bad that's a great price.

27. It sounds like you got a good deal on your condo
from what I know about housing costs in Europe, which is not a whole lot. I just know that housing is pricey over that way.

I live in the midwest here in the states and housing costs are typically much cheaper than those on the east and west coasts. A house like that would probably cost closer to $200,000 in California or New York even in it's current state as a fixer upper. Here in Ohio the house would cost closer to $100,000 in flawless condition. So if it doesn't require anything major it's a really good deal. It's only been on the market for 7 days, though, and by the time I make up my mind it may already be gone. Investors are having a field day in the current economic climate. They are grabbing everything they can with the hopes that the market will rebound and they can sell for a profit. I don't blame them. I'd probably do the same if I had the money.

I love real estate. I like looking at houses and rentals and dreaming of the possibilities. :)

30. It was a good deal I got
since it was in good shape and in an OK area here. I've seen condos that where way worse for the same price.

You can buy houses for this price in other parts of Germany. But Frankfurt is a rather expensive city. I am at the lowest level regarding the price here in Frankurt. Everything newly built is at least twice as expensive.

Good luck with that house. Let me know how you like it after you've seen it :)

Opp! A little mix-up in your schedule? At least your new employers were very understanding. I'm surprised though that they did not call you.

Got a lot of chores done on Saturday b/4 I had to go into work too and on Sunday instead of resting I decided to clean my patio. It was looking rather scuzzy. Here's some before and after pics. It was a lot of work, and of course it was hot yesterday, but it sure looks nice now, so it was worth all the hard work. I did find some eco-friendly detergent, so that made me happy.

26. I think you'll be pleasantly
surprised about the added income from your second job. Hopefully they won't keep calling you in to cover for other employees. If you can keep the hours manageable with your regular job, all should be okay. When I had a second job they kept on calling me in to fill in and I typically did because I know how difficult it is to work short handed. After a while though, I decided it wasn't worth it. It seemed like I was working at one job or the other. That and I reached my vacation fund goal. So I decided to quit.

And now again I have made a conscience decision not to work so much overtime (my regular job). Decided life is just too short.

I'm very pleased the way my patio turned out. It even looks better than the last pic.

is very nice. I'll look up a pic later. It's made to look like wicker, but it's actually fiberglass, very durable and will last forever. The table has a glass top.

I just got into the office, and I already wish it were Friday.

I've got a lot to do, and I really don't want to do it.

48. I did.
But then my internet at home had problems, so I couldn't start going through them :( Hopefully it will be more reliable over the next few days.

We had a German visitor here last week who brought us chocolate, which was very, very yummy, but I suspect it was the equivalent of Hershey's bars here. It's called Milka, and the bar I had was milk chocolate and white chocolate mixed together. I told everyone that I was moving to Germany just for the chocolate.

actually, I have a bar (noisette) in the fridge here at work :)

You ought to talk to AirmensMom about the chocolate I send her :) I believe she will move with you over here - just for the chocolate

Better chocolate than Milka is Lindt. But that is a Swiss company.

it is f*cking expensive. But you have to consider the taxes and the long way it took to come over here. I think German food in the U.S. is also more expensive than in Germany.

I'm ready for Friday again, too! :boring: It was too hot this weekend, temps near 35C. Visited dad on Sunday (Father's Day in the US), had brunch with my mom and brother, watched Confederation's Cup games with my other brother, went home and took a long nap :boring: instead of doing laundry and preparing for Monday. :P Woke up at 11:30 and had to do some of the stuff I didn't do earlier.

no more customers today :woohoo:

You know what amazed me? Saturday evening when I worked. The groceries store closes at 10pm. The other stores in the building close at 9pm. Still there were so many people till the last minute, I barely had a chance to take a breath and drink some water. I didn't expect that. I thought it would calm down once the other stores are closed.

82. Good morning Miss HC
I did a similar thing before. My cell started ringing. I didn't get it the first time because I had just talked to everyone I needed to (or so I thought). The calls kept coming, so I finally answered it.

"Where are you? You were supposed to be here 2 hours ago."

"Oops, I forgot it was Saturday. I'll be right there."

"Well, you might as well stay now. We handled the rush.. it wasn't that bad. Can you come in Tuesday?"

"Sure! If I don't forget -chuckle- just kidding"

This weekend was ok. Sunday was Father's Day so it was the best. My daughter brought me breakfast and a beer. What more could a dad ask for? :)

Turns out she panicked when the existing 10 year old cat freaked out upon the kitty's arrival. She shot the email 5 minutes later.

When I got a hold of her Friday all was well. The cats are all buddies. She'll send pics. Everyone is happy. yada yada :D

Hmm.. what should I do today... I think I'll sit here sipping coffee and decide in a few hours ;)

I work there minimum 3 days a week usually more. I like the happy parts. I guess the main downside to me is the bureaucratic aspect of going through a board to fix screwy procedures. I'm getting used to it, and things DO get fixed. It just takes soooo long
