DUers respond to my threads. What's wrong here?

Yesterday I posted a thread about how parents should bake their own cookies and not buy cookie dough and my thread gets 100 responses.
Today I post a thread about how a NY Times Poll shows most Americans (including a majority of Repubs) favor a Public Plan and I get .....2 responses.
I somehow think the second thread is a bit more important, obviously the rest of DU disagrees.
Came here to bitch.

8. Could be because yours was the only thread about

cookie-baking, while there are many threads about healthcare. For new stories, someone almost always beats you to the punch, so no replies to speak of. It's not a matter of which thread is more important. Unique threads do well; common threads do not.
