What will you do when everyone else is gone?
Edited on Sat Jun-20-09 05:12 PM by quakerboy
How much consideration have you given this? Everyone else is gone. Zombie attack, plague, rapture, what have you. What are you going to do? How far out have you considered, or have you?

How about if you get somehow sucked forward or backward in time? Do you have any favored scenarios?

I get bored at work sometimes, myself.

1. Why would I be left?
if everyone else is gone?

11. Why wouldnt you?
maybe you just happened to be the one person in the world who stepped into the wine cellar, just as the aliens flesh destroying bombs go off, but for some reason they cannot penitrate wine bottles.

Maybe for some reason you happen to have had a cold and skipped work the day the plague was going around, but everyone else had used up all their sick days already.

Or perhaps you were just the only one who didn't somewhere in the back of their mind believe enough in God to get raptured.

Crazy things happen in this world. Why not more of them?

30. One of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes
is the man who was in the bank vault when the end happened.

He had always wanted to be left alone to read. Now he got his chance, and just when he thought he couldnt go on he found a library. Then his glasses broke.

Me? I want to go with everyone else. I am not special.

2. Go get some cold beer.
Raid the local library/bookstores and sit back and chill.

17. For how long?
At some point the beer wont be cold anymore, and the books will all be read. Though the lights will likely go out long before that.

35. I don't think I could possibly read all the books in one lifetime.
After the beer, there's always wine.:P

37. I think I could get all the
interesting ones. I am eagerly awaiting several new books that complete series's. It would really suck to never be able to read them.

3. My dear quakerboy...
I very much doubt that any of those things are likely. So, I haven't given them much thought, if any...

I can tell you're bored all right!

Time travel doesn't happen either, sorry...

15. Ah, but what will you be doing it to?
I mean the Internets are surely not long for this world in the absence of man to maintain the systems. Then at some point the electricity will go, and unless you know how to hook up a generator and siphon gas, there go the DVD's.

18. Who needs gas?
All you need is something to make it spin. Wind, ect. If I'm alone and I have no other responsibilities beyond bare survival (and the first few months should be easy... canned stuff ain't gonna go bad) I should have time to prepare for things to start going kaputski.

26. Well, I know
that you can do some machining, given what I know of your creations, but could most people manage to create, connect, and maintain such a system as would be needed?

I think I am smart, and I have done some electric work, but I would be put through my paces as a non handy person to do it. In the mean time, If I am the last person, Im not to worried about emissions nearly so much, and generators can be found in most any hardware store.

29. I'd get several generators
so as to keep at least one running at all times, and a few to tinker with to find some way to get the actual electrical generator part running on something other than the gas engine in it.

That, or I'd try to find/modify some so they could work on ethanol or something like that. A still ain't hard to build. :)

20. You should do that anyway
I like a nice smooth leg as well as any man, but I see the torture women go through to get there, and its damn well not worth it. Leg shaving is an addiction, no different from crack or kleptomania.
