I spent part of today with my neighbor who has passed away just a few minutes ago.
She was at home, with hospice care.

She was trying to make it to Sunday, for Father's day but just couldn't.

All of us neighbors said goodbye today, and then left so the family could be together.

I will really miss her.

She had a good long life, had 6 kids, 15 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren.

Last year at this time we lost another neighbor in June, also from cancer.

It doesn't get any easier.

Have a good journey dear neighbor, I will never forget you.

4. Good of you to say good-bye

My Grandfather died May 27th @11:30 PM. I was with him until 10:00 when I left to drive home. Both his daughters were there when he passed away.

Being able to say good-bye made his passing easier on all of us (my Grandmother died suddenly in 1995 - none of us were prepared).

6. sending a virtual hug, and a virtual chocolate cake your way
or would you prefer a virtual casserole.

Sometimes I think that the wonderful Southern tradition of taking food to the family is as much therapy for the giver as it is comfort for the receiver.

and you are quite right it doesn't get any easier.

11. Ah Bless You Michelle, I Have Been Trying To Post About It But It Is Too Hard
He was the picture of health, vibrant, and good to go, then he got this virus that has paralyzed him and put him in ICU for 5 weeks. I am going with my sister on Wednesday to see him in Florida. God Damn I love that old man.

12. Aww sweetie, 5 weeks is an eternity when it is the suffering of
someone we love, when it is the suffering of your dad. I am sorry you all have been going through this. I am definitely sending hugs and saying prayers for you and your dad and your family.

8. How blessed she was to be surrounded by friends and family in her final hours
I think of all the people who die alone with no one and it's just heartbreaking. May she rest in peace.

13. Speaking of neighbors,
It will be one year in a couple of weeks when we lost two neighbors. The elderly man next to us died July 2. Then the elderly woman who lived to the left of us died July 5. She had a stroke a few days before that. Her house has been for sale but there are no takers.
