Anybody know how long it's taking to get a passport these days?
I've got a trip coming up in Oct. Am I running out of time? Should I pay the additional $60 to expedite it?

1. I know a couple of years ago, they were very slow
I don't know how long it's taking these days. It would seem like 4 months should be enough time, but I can't say for sure.

2. When I got mine in March, it was 2-3 weeks.
With the changes to the law (like needing a Passport to go to Canada) I was told it's about double that now. You should have enough time, but you can also ask them questions when you submit it. Expediting can also be done after the fact and over the phone, like if it hasn't arrived by the time your passport office stated.

6. I'll say hi.
We were pretty astonished about how quick she got the new one, because we've all heard the horror stories. (Takes about 14 days for me to get a passport.)

16. Carribean cruise...
St. Maarten, St Croix & St Thomas. On Disney cruise lines with a stop at their private island, Castaway Cove.

Going with family; mom & her husband, sister/BIL & niece and nephew. It's a Christmas present from my mom.

I'll have a private stateroom with a veranda so I plan on lots of room service, reading, relaxing, sunning & some major spa treatments. :)

19. What an awesome amazing gift to give/get.
Momma did good!

I went on a cruise to the Bahamas a few years ago, had a lot of fun. We ferried across to an island - I have never seen water so blue and fish so colorful. There was a live band once we got there and all the food and drink you could eat served right there in the sand to us.

22. That sounds like great fun
although there is usually so much to do, that one doesn't spend much time in one's cabin.

25. Well, it's Disney
So most of the entertainment is geared towards kids. With 4 ports of calls on a 7 day cruise, they'll be plenty to do though. They have an adult pool, no one under 19 admitted with a bar about 5 ft away, so I'm sure they'll know where to find me if not in my cabin. :)

14. I think it varies
In 2000, it took me like 5 months. in 05, my sis got hers in 2 months. In early 08, everyone told me 6+ months for my wifes, but we never did paperwork since she would rather have her Canadian one. Mine was lost, and it only took them about 3 weeks to replace it for me.

Good luck

18. You have plenty of time
Is this a new passport or a renewal?

My friend was able to get a new passport in a little less than 6 weeks for a trip he left for last month. I was able to drive down to Houston last September to renew my passport that same day. It took me a few hours.
