DTV has brought a bizarre yet enjoyable addition to my life
One of our local Spanish stations is now broadcasting an 80s music video channel!

I've seen some videos I haven't seen in 20 years or more (a lot of them are crap of course).

Here are some that I've really enjoyed revisiting:

Madness - Our House
Animotion - Obsession
INXS - New Sensation
Duran Duran - Save A Prayer (I'd forgotten about all the Buddhist imagery in that one)
Missing Persons - Words
Bangles - Manic Monday
Flock Of Seagulls - I Ran
Stray Cats - Stray Cat Strut & She's Sexy + 17
Devo - Whip It (of course - why is that the only song/video of theirs ever played?)

Of course, in order to watch those I've had to suffer through:

Motley Crue
Van Hagar
Twisted Sister
Billy Squier
Huey Lewis & The News
Manfred Mann

Plus a lot of stuff I'm kind of lukewarm about:

Stevie Nicks
Corey Hart
Def Leppard
Rick Springfield
Bryan Adams (I'd forgotten how popular he used to be)

Anyway, it's been fun, even with the crap. I hope it stays around.

Oh well, just wanted to share....

4. Phoenix. We have a lot of Spanish stations, it's just kind of
weird and/or interesting that this one uses its third frequency to show these old videos.

What's also kind of fun is that the commercials are "old-school" type of local ads. Mostly car dealerships with the same format that's been used since the 1970s, very un-slick. I'm guessing that advertising on 38.3 is pretty cheap.

5. Our ABC affiliate picked up an old school TV show network
Adam-12, Emergency!, Dragnet, Quincy, Ironside, The Incredible Hulk, Kojak, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Airwolf, and much more.

It's kind of fun, especailly when there's nothing else on.
