I need to buy one for our significant anniversary this year. Anyone have advice or connections?

1. My dear plcdude...
Diamonds are a tough topic around here, unfortunately. Especially since it's difficult to know just where they came from. Were they sold as blood diamonds? You know, to help finance some awful war...

Wish I could help in a more constructive way...

Good luck! And Happy Anniversary!

:hi:

2. I second what CP says - are diamonds your only option?
If so please request conflict-free diamonds and ask where they came from.

(You are sweet to be making such an investment for an anniversay - your SO is lucky).

3. whiteflash.com
if you're near Houston, they'll let you come see them w/an appointment.

Overstock.com also has great prices on jewelry.

6. Get a conflict free diamond. They do exist.
They have the anniversary ring with the three diamonds that represent the past, present and future. My engagment ring is one of those.

I also love the diamond eternity bands. Good luck!

20. think about a solitaire to which you can later add
ring guards with diamonds, or pearls, or whatever (cheap!) to make it a 3-stone. She'll never be bored with it.

10. Does it have to be a diamond?
There are some really beautiful semi-precious stones. I'd appreciate a gorgeous aquamarine or amethyst ring made by a local artisan more than a diamond ring that hundreds of other women are sporting. But maybe that's just me.

13. well
we were too poor when we got married and I think it is time I propose again with diamond ring. I could be taking a great risk here if she turns me down.

12. try an antique store.
most places that buy whole estates have some nice jewelry. there are some jewelers that specialize in buying old stuff, too. it may not be the uber-sparkly cuts that they do these days, but i guess how much that matters depends on mrs p.

hey, it's a coincidence in my case.

21. that's what I was going to suggest -- if you feel it must be a diamond
check out estate jewelry stores -- often you'll find truly beautiful, and unique, pieces.

18. You might try this place out...
http://www.brilliantearth.com/

They are supposed to be conflict free diamonds from Canadian mines...

Never used them before, but thought I'd suggest it.

Good Luck with your search no matter what you end up choosing!
