I was adjudged a non-person
I had this dream last night where some Sarah Palin-like individual had taken over the country, and somehow took a grave dislike to me personally. This took the form of decreeing that everyone had to throw their sodas at me. Even in the dream, I found this wildly funny, but probably only because they always missed. They didn't seem to be putting their heart into it. This seemed to be happening in Paris or Philadelphia or both. I know I tried to catch a train in some M.C. Escher version of the Market-Frankford line, but the trains never came. (What ever happened to dictatorships running the trains on time?)

When I started to wake up, I also started making the dream make more sense, so non-personhood became less fun. I realized that my internet access would disappear, my electricity would probably go out, etc. I was a little flummoxed regarding how to lead the resistance as a non-person. But at least even in fugue state, I was still planning resistance. I blame George Nouri (ie, I fell asleep with the radio on.)

1. sometimes being a non person to the powers that be can be advantageous
it allows you to slip under their radar, no taxes, no oversight, no interference, it can lead to interesting adventures and great dreams.

4. Well...
Repairman Jack is a guy who has no social security number, etc, and totally flies under the radar. He spends his time solving problems for people. http://www.repairmanjack.com

Supposedly there will be a RJ movie starring Ryan Reynolds.

12. My husband and son LOVE Repairman Jack!
Cool that there'll be a movie.

Now that I hear what kind of character he is, I think, "That makes sense."

8. So long as they aren't throwing Pepsi at me.
However, there's a difference between being a non-person (ostracized) and being non-existent on paper (unseen and ignored). I'd happily explore the latter; the former not so much.

6. I have a letter from the State Department in 1965
That says they have no record of me and if I do exist, I must have entered the country illegally.
I wonder how many people got into the country illegally on a military transport flight.
Then a couple of months later, I got a letter signed by Dean Rusk that stated I was an American citizen by birth even though I wasn't born here.
