It isn't funny.

It's stupid.

Am I just missing something here?

5. For that kind of movie, it's entertaining.
But I have to shake my head when it's tossed around as some people's favorite movie.

and then he gets the girl.

:boring:

22. Well, it's genius, and hilarious, so I'd say you're missing everything.
But that's okay, because being a Drunken Irishman means never having to say "I'm sorry," "I'm sober," or "I liked a film I didn't like." :)

25. There was one moment I thought was truly hilarious
And I thought there were lots of funny moments....when Inigo Montoya finally met the six fingered man, gave hi little schpeel and then the six fingered man turns and runs away. That was so unexpected, thought ir was very funny.

26. No, I'm with you. I think it's supposed to be camp humor, like the old Batman tv show.
It's intentionally over-arch, with the characters stepping out of the set up and rolling their eyes at the camera. For smart people, there's Monty Python and the Holy Grail. For everyone else, there's The Princess Bride.

I only watch it because of the Montoya character and, of course, Andre the Giant.

while being a pretty good hero and princess tale in its own right. What's not to like?

I worked with two people who thought The Princess Bride was the best movie ever. I watched it and didn't like it at all. I watched it twice to make sure I wasn't missing the point. Nope...

I wasn't missing the point. Sorry, but it's just a dumb movie.

Adventurous romantic classic hero saga of good overcoming evil all for true love what do you not get about it? I once heard some republicans saying they were rooting for the empire in Star Wars is it that you wanted the prince to win?
