1. Other: Anthony Perkins from Psycho. I still have clear shower curtains to this day
I know he's not a "classic" movie monster, but that scene is just great. Everyone's been there, tired from a long day on the road, showering in a motel........

4. Two: The Tingler and Mr. Sardonicus
Edited on Sun Jun-14-09 03:03 PM by nuxvomica
The tingler was a microscopic create living on your spine that grows with your fear until it breaks your back and kills you. The only way to stop it is with a scream.

Mr. Sardonicus dug up his dead father's grave to get a winning lottery ticket and was so shocked by the rigor mortis-induced grin on the corpse that his face was permanently paralyzed into a big toothy smile.

The classic Universal monsters didn't scare me because I lovingly assembled and painted the Aurora models for all of them.

15. I remember those models!
My brother and I had most of them, and years later we blew them all up with firecrackers on the Fourth of July.

Of course, we used to blow up a lot of things on the Fourth.

The classic movie monsters never scared me, but The Blob gave me the horrors.

A very close second was a cyclops that bent down and looked in a window. I can't remember if it was a movie or a Twilight Zone, or Outter Limits thing, but I looked for him to peek in my window night after night..

14. Creature from the Black Lagoon scared the crap out of me.
However, the scariest "creature" by far was "Shaky Hand" My mother and aunt liked to torture us. One time, my mother got us into her bed to tell us scary stories and unbeknownst to us, my aunt was underneath the bed. On cue, my aunt stuck her hand through the gap between the headboard and mattress and started grabbing us. My mother, to whip us into a complete frenzy yelled, "Help! Help! It's Shaky Hand" My sisters and I were traumatized, and I've never been the same. :scared: :)

My first movie, at that.
I screamed and ducked behind the seat back in front of me, then occasionally peeked at the screen.

More recently, Alien. Cannot bear to watch it.

in a lake. Where I grew up, our swimmin' hole was an old railroad area. The movie involved swimming in a lake and HUGE leeches taking the victims to their lairs under the water. I was 14, and to this DAY, at (almost) 58, I will NOT swim in small swimmin' holes :scared:
