Favorite Movie Soundtrack Albums
"O Brother Where Are Thou?" is a fine collection of classic country, bluegrass, gospel, folk, and blues - with original old-time recordings paired with contemporary, yet faithful covers.

when I read the thread title. I still put it in the CD player now and then (and, of course, the movie on DVD). :)

14. That's iconic!
My nephew promotes a local band that does old country covers which offer heavy doses of Morricone in the mix - it's not quite "Good, Bad..." meeting "O Brother...", but I should float that idea by him. Great choice!

13. I would have to go with "Magical Mystery Tour"
which is jam-packed with great songs, some of them which could have (and might well have) gone on to the "Sgt. Pepper" album, like "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "I Am the Walrus." Strangely, "Magical Mystery Tour" was not included in the boxed set of LPs I bought about 20 years ago, but I bought it separately - some of the Beatles' best songs are on it.

19. Which reminds me...
The other day, we were watching "Dances With Wolves" on HDNM (and trying not to laugh at Costner's mullet or Mary McDonnell's feathery, poofy late 80's hair), and in one scene, where Costner is meeting with the Sioux for the first time, "I'm So Excited" breaks out. Sounded like it was in the movie!

So we were wondering what the hell...?

Turns out my foot on the coffee table kicked open one of Nini's musical birthday cards.

28. King Kong - (1933)
Max Steiner hit a grand slam home run out of the park with this score. King Kong has been called a great concert with a movie attached. The love theme (Sea at Night) is as hauntingly beautiful as Bernard Herrmann's music for "Vertigo".
