so for the second time today we could not find the new kitteh, the panic escalated when it was discovered that the but tutcher had left the sliding screen door open a few inches. The girl spawn scoured the house and the neighborhood and came up empty handed, we were sure it was all over for Zelda the psycho kitteh. An hour later she pops up at her food bowl like nothing ever happened, the little shit never even left the house!

She heard you say teh mean things about her this morning, and said.. "im gonna show dat beoytch" So we made a plan to hide her in the garage, until a sufficent level of panic developed and then she reappeared...Our own little "black op" :evilgrin:

2. They find those portals into alternate universes when they're still very young.

She was hanging out on the fourth dimension, amusing herself by watching you try to find her. Then, when she got hungry, she slipped right back into your universe acting like everything was all normal.

Cats do this all the time.

are too close to the ground for the kitten to hide under.

8. Ferrets are worse

Mine disappeared exactly once in his life. I about took out my father, who had left a door open. I thought for sure he was outside and gone. I suppose I still owe him an apology about that.

I'm guessing he went and hid in the inaccessible space under the wood stove. Luckily there was not a fire going. Though you would hope that he would have been smart enough to not go there then.

9. Mine vanished for about 20 mintues when I was moving into my new apartment.

Searched everywhere, inside and out, sure she had bolted. She suddenly materialized in the middle of the kitchen. Turns out the plate on the dishwasher allowed her to crawl underneath it.

Later I got a kitten, who used to vanish, but they are so small you expect that. So one day I'm in the kitchen, and I've taped up the dishwasher so she can't get underneath it, and I step backwards and almost squash her. She bolts straight to the corner cabinets, and while I'm watching, literally just vanishes. It looked like some scene from a sci-fi film where someone hits a portal and just disappears into a wall.

Turns out there is a hole in the overhang over the baseboards, and it leads to a narrow space between the two cabinet that meet at the corner. When she hit the cabinets, she just jumped up through this opening, and vanished. I keep wondering if there is an entire alternate universe in there, but it seems likely that it's just a clever little space for my kitty.

14. I accidentally trapped one in a bureau drawer.

I left it open in the morning and closed it when I got home. During the intervening time, kitty decided it was a nice soft, warm place for napping. I opened the drawer later and out popped kitty. Oops, sorry about that.

My mom used to slide the phone book under the sofa. Once we tore up the house looking for our family cat "Zink",... we give up, mom pulls out the phone book to order a pizza two hours later,... there's "Zink" yawning and stretching on the phone book!
