Good morning Lounge
How are you today? How was your weekend?

Mine? Let's see.
As I told you I started working at my second job Saturday at a groceries store. I worked at the checkout as cashier. That was a first for me. Boy, those persons sure have to be quick and look out for a lot. It was fun in a way but also stressful. I work next Saturday again. Also again as cashier.

Sunday afternoon two friends came to my place and we had a movie session. "Pirates of the Caribbean" part one and two. We cooked a chicken gumbo, I made a Key Lime Pie, one friend made lemonade and the other a onion bread :9
We had a lot of fun, I can tell ya :)

1. Good Morning MissHoneychurch !
Hey, I missed you a lot. I'm glad that you had a

great weekend and that you seem to like your job.

Cashier is a pretty demanding job especially when there

are a lot of peoples in the line.:)

I missed you too :loveya:

Well, I LOVE my main job, which is being a librarian.
But being a cashier is OK. Ask me again after next Saturday when I have to work 8 hours at the checkout.

Either there were a lot of people or none at all ... go figure :eyes:

4. I spent most of the weekend sleeping.
I have chronic fatigue which

sometimes results in hypersomnia.Argh!

I hate it.Even strong coffee doesn't help

me to stay awake.:(

I'm going back to read my great

Science Fiction book. The next one will be

a Historical novel.

See you later my dear! :loveya:

not that I know much about SF. Actually nothing.
Do you know already which Historical novel you will be reading?

Right now I am reading a book by a British guy who travelled the Iran for 3 years. It is a book about this trip.

7. The Manifold Trilogy : Space by Stephen Baxter

It's the second volume.Good story and the science part is not bad either. It's much closer to

2001 A Space Odyssey than Star Wars. But I love all genre of literature as long as it's

well written. The Historical Novel is called 1630: La Vengeance de Richelieu (Richelieu's Revenge).

Most of the time when I read a French novel I prefer that the story is set in the past because

most modern ones are kind of boring.Recently I discovered a good Norwegian author. His name

is Jo Nesbo.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo_Nesb%C3%B8

His style is a little bit similar to Ian Rankin's (Which I love).

It's great to discover Norway and enjoy a good story at the same time.:)

jis mysteries are great!!! I hope the "Exit Doors" wasn't his last of the Rebus series.

I haven't read anything by Jo Nesbo yet. But if you say he writes similar to Rankin I think I will try it.

The Scandinavian are great mystery novel writers. Have you read the books by Stieg Larsson? http://www.amazon.com/Girl-Dragon-Tattoo-Stieg-Larsson/dp/0307269752/ref=pd_cp_b_1 Check them out.

3. Good morning, Miss Honeychurch.
My weekend was terribly uneventful.
Saturday I worked a full shift at the store;
Sunday I woke up at 1:00pm wih a hangover, as is my wont,
and i got some seedlings transplanted into the garden.
Various and sundry other tasks occupied my day.

I posted a thread here in the Lounge that I'd really
like your input on, what with you being an attractive woman and all.

What seedlings did you put in the ground?

The big plus this weekend was that I got my condo clean. With my friends coming I wanted it to look real nice. So I cleaned Saturday evening and Sunday morning. I am so proud of myself :D

Thanks for the compliment. I wish you good luck with that lady. I hope you can meet for a coffee and chat and get to know each other.

63. I got my last 3 'Pepperoncini' peppers in the ground, and....
...I did a special transplanting for a 'Lemon Tomato' seedling
that had gotten much too long & spindly for its own good.

Beyond that, I just farted around with a dozen other minor tasks
that amounted to a big pile of NOTHING.

grandfather had been killed in the war and my grandmother knew people in New York who could get her a job - she was a nurse/midwife.
Evidently there were a lot of German nationals living in that area of Austria - I guess there still are.

49. Austria-Hungary
was a state with quite a lot of different nations till WW1.

I find it fascinating how people left home and went to another continent without knowing what to expect. Did you ever read "The Emigrants" by Vilhelm Moberg? http://www.amazon.com/Emigrants-Emigrant-Novels-Vilhelm-Moberg/dp/0873513193/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1244466825&sr=8-3
He writes about a Swedish family that emigrates to the U.S. in the late 1800. It is a very interesting read.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your first day as a cashier. As you know, jobs like that can be fun some days, and not so fun other days.

Also, sounds like you had a great time with your friends, cooking and watching movies!

I made some Asian veggies and brown basmati rice last night for dinner - was good. Pic below. I served in on a plate that I bought in Barbados at a pottery shop. Everything they sell is hand-made. The table cloth is actually a wrap/scarf but I'm using it as a tablecloth. That I bought in Bequia.

Got home from vacation late Friday night after several gate changes and a new plane. My weekend mostly consisted of doing laundry, putting vacation stuff away, catching up with mail, paying bills, etc. Today it's back to work after having two weeks off. *sigh* I'd rather be in the islands. Temps were in the 80s and here they are only in the high 40s low 50s.

It sounds like you had a busy weekend! I don't know if I would survive being a cashier. Good luck!

On Friday, I went to my parents house to help get ready for the birthday party on Saturday (which went very well :)). Yesterday, I lazed around my house all day and watched the Tonys last night. Unfortunately, I had trouble sleeping after that - I had a tooth ache which kept me up  so I'm tired today.

I cleaned (a lot) and then I chopped vegetables for various dishes. No one in my family trusts me to actually do the cooking

I think the sore tooth may be my fault. I was eating a kiwi and a seed got stuck. I think that in the process of getting it out, I scratched my gum, which didn't react well. If it's still bothering me tomorrow I'll go to the dentist, but I'm hoping I don't have to.

59. Good morning.
Key lime pie! Yum! My favorite. Glad your pirate weekend went well.

My weekend was fine; worked on Saturday until time to fly out and flew to Fort Myers, where I spent the night. Then yesterday flew here to Charlotte.

Mom's birthday was yesterday; my sister came up from Columbia and we all had a great time.

Just got back from a nice run. So much cooler here than the Keys! Later we'll go over to Southpark Mall.:hi:

60. Good morning cwydro
:hi: :loveya:

Please say hello to Charlotte from me :hi:

I have to admit, I didn't use Key Limes for the pie. We don't get them here. Am I still allowed to call it Key Lime Pie? It is my favorite pie too. So easy to make. But I try not to bake it too often.

61. Of course you can call it a Key Lime pie!
As long as you put whipped cream on it!

I thought of you this morning and already said hi to Charlotte for you. It's one of those late spring days I'm sure you remember. The birds singing, the sun dappling through the oak trees - such a nice spring scent in the air.

64. Good morning, Miss Honeychurch.
In Key West I was taught to never trust a green-colored Key Lime pie.
