I just signed up a $5000 client "by accident"
1). Called a local attorney to inquire about creating a Web Site for him

2). "Thank you, but I am close to retiring from my practice, and really don't need one. But I DO need a Web Site for another organization I am involved in. Are you interested?"

3). $5000 contract to build a Web Site for a local school organization. Client told me that my proposal "couldn't have come at a better time" because he delegated the responsibility for making this happen to someone on the organization and months later, nothing has happened.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

The work IS STILL OUT THERE...you just need to sharpen up your sales skills and be like a pig in the woods hunting for truffles, and NEVER GIVE UP.

3. I went to Manta.com...
...it is a Web Site that pulls in Dun & Bradstreet data on companies. You have to pay for it on D&B, but the same data is free on Manta.

Anyway, I pulled together a list of local attorneys and checked each of them to see which ones had Web Sites. From there, I put together a call list.

This attorney was the second name on the list. Ten minutes into my day and I called this man.

You're absolutely right...timing is everything. The problem is that this can work in the opposite...you can make the 100 calls or do the 100 walk-ins and come up with a "no" on ALL of them.

The secret is to get out of bed EVERY day and say "this is the day." Eventually, you're right.

They must be expecting something pretty fancy? It seems like a lot to pay to me. Congrats, though. Wish you the best!

6. There's a lot of programming involved.
They want the ability to make donations online, as well as purchase tickets for events.

I did a Web Site for a local pizza parlor for $500.

This ain't a local pizza parlor.

2. Actually,
I am getting ready to start a forum.
Eventually, I have a product that will be associated with the gist of the fourm that I will want to market.
I'll PM you when that time comes..I'm quite strapped at the moment, and I have to consult with some lawyers about how I can make my product correctly. Hope to be up and running by the end of the year.
