What is a good pc laptop to buy for my daughter?
She is 43 and will primarily be using it for network and photos. Need something cost-effective.

Thanks!

1. There are so many to choose from
I bought a Lenovo for under 400 bucks and it does all I need. I would suggest looking at Tigerdirect.com and geeks.com. Both of those sites have some great prices and a large selection.

2. HP with a 15.4" screen. Best Buy has them for good prices.
I've got 4 HP laptops (3 with the 15.4" and one with a 17") and we love them.

6. Problem with Best Buy is you have to deal with Geek Squad. Fuck them.

3. Check out Tiger Direct - they have tons of inexpensive laptops. Cheap shipping too.

5. I'd go with what Consumer Reports would recommend...
Might not appear cost-effective upfront, but it'd last a lot longer... unless it got stolen...

7. And iphoto (included) is very user friendly.
Not having to add anything or buy other programs makes it very cost effective, IMO.

8. I have a Toshiba I bought at Best Buy for 379.99 -
15.4 inch screen, CD/DVD drive, 160GB hard drive - I really like it. There's another model for a little more than comes with a built-in webcam. I just bought my webcam separately.

A few years ago, I got an earlier model of this computer for $800. I have more function now for half the price.
