Last year over the Memorial Day weekend our 25 year old refrigerator died. Perfectly understandable. Twenty five years is a long time in appliance life and it was accepted without any ill feelings.
So we replaced it with a brand spanking new one. When we purchased it, we were asked if we wanted to buy the extended warranty for approximately 25% of the purchase price. No, thanks, we told the saleswoman. A refrigerator should last more than 12 months. Our last one lasted a quarter of a century. Sop they delivered us a new refrigerator on June 1 last year.
So what happened today - two days after the manufacturers warranty expired? The refrigerator died. I am livid.
(Btw - I bought a new one tonight and will get it Saturday. This time I have a 6 year warranty which will get refunded if I don't have trouble with the new one.)
1. Sorry to hear about the fridge... btw how did you pay for it?
Reason I ask is that some credit card companies (the one i work for does this) double the manufacturers warranty on the purchase. So if it had a 12 month warranty, the cc gives you an extra 12 months ergo a 2 year warranty.
But yep, 2 days after warranty expire and for the fridge to die: duff fridge :(
