I think the customer service rep with my cell provider put me on
speaker phone to laugh at me. It went something like this:

me "Does our phone service plan cover water damage?"

them "What is the nature of the damage?"

me "On which one?"

them "the one with the water damage"

me "they both have water damage"

them "can you tell me about the incident that led to the water damage?"

me "the one that fell in the lake or the one that got dropped in the bathtub?"

them, " <snickering sound> ma'am, can you start over from the beginning and do it slowly?"

:grr:

1. For quality-control purposes, this call is being recorded...
They'll be playing that for years in training sessions. :bounce:

2. True story
Surly teenage Verizon rep at the Verizon store in the mall, without making eye contact: "So what happened to the phone"
Me: "The cat knocked over a glass of water onto it"
STVR: "We don't cover repairs for water damage. You want to try that again?"
Me: "uh, the cat knocked the phone onto the floor?"
STVR: "That's better"

These days, they can see if it's water damage or not right away - back then, maybe not.

Sounds like you need waterproof cases in the future mcc

3. I take my cell phone out on the lake when I go fishing.
In fact, that and auto emergencies are the only use I have for a cell phone. So, when fishing, I put it in a ziploc sandwich bag, with extra air in the bag. It floats. I've only had to use it once, though, and that was to report an unsafe, drunk boater.

It's a Trac Phone.
