What does the world have against me?
Between Hollywood molesting my memories of Transformers and James Bond, Limp Bizket, Seether, and 311 mangling some of my favorite songs, and the fact that everything from Friday the 13th to Rear Window is being shoddily remade; is it too much for me to ask that the people that I pay to entertain me not piss on the memories of all I held dear as a child? If it's too hard to come up with new ideas for music and movies, take some time. There's no need to attempt (and fail) to remake what was done before. Take as long as you need to come up with some original ideas, there's decades of good stuff that we can watch and listen to until you do. Then you guys can come back with a fresh tank, and I'll kick back and enjoy.

1. You going to see Halloween II?
I will, but only because I'm a sucker.

I can't pass up a Halloween movie. :(

2. Haven't even seen the first Halloween remake
in spite of the fact that I'm a huge Rob Zombie fan...

3. It sucked. But I'm not a huge Zombie fan.
The sequel looks a bit better, though who the hell knows.

4. I hear you
Especially about the music covers. It seems like every new band out there feels like they have to cover an older tune to break into the big time. A band called In This Moment recently covered Blondie's "Call Me." One sad thing about that is that they have one of the best female vocalists in heavy metal, a genre where female vocalists are rare, and they have made some great original music. That's a pretty common story in music now days.

5. Having someone ask to sing Limp Bizket's mangling of
Behind Blue Eyes while I was doing karaoke tonight was what pushed me over the edge. Fortunately, it was close enough to the end of the night that I could just say no, as opposed to hitting him in the face with a crowbar for his horrible taste in music. Sadly true story, though; I had a girl ask if I could play "Against All Odds" for her. That would have been cool, but then I made the mistake of asking which version she wanted; and she said, "well, I think more people would know the Mariah Carey version." I said that I think more people would know the Phil Collins version and she said three words that still haunt my memory. "Who's Phil Collins?"

And people wonder why I drink...
