Texas Longhorn pitcher takes over in 7th inning, gives up no hits for 12 innings.
The 25-inning game demolished the old NCAA record, set in 1971 when Louisiana-Lafayette beat McNeese State 6-5 in 23 innings.

Austin Dicharry, who pitched 5 2/3 innings, got the victory, but it was Austin Wood who probably won over Longhorn fans forever.

Wood, who threw 169 pitches, came on in relief with a runner on second in the seventh inning. He pitched the next 12 1/3 innings before he gave up his first hit, a single in the bottom of the 19th.

He struck out 14, walked four batters and gave up two hits in 13 innings.

After 169 pitches, I hope the training staff was quick with the ice (or the heat, or whatever you use for an overwaorked arm/shoulder)...
