7. You can't let the bad guys win.
Reminds me of the Susan Boyle stuff I'm reading.

ps. She NEVER made the comment about the Marines being vulgar or the one about the Roosevelt rose "being good up against a wall but not in a bed." The director of the ER papers has no clue where those two originated.

ETA: Except for the chronic whiner, THAT was truly annoying, but she got moved! :woohoo:

I'm really sorry you have to deal with that shit at work. I am blessed with relatively mature coworkers...

17. Well the plus side this past week
was getting to write the final report for one of our studies so I didn't spend much time with the kids. I'm going to let my supervisor know I'd like to do more of that if the PI is pleased with the results. Honestly if the economy was in better shape I'd probably be actively looking, but where I am I now I'm going to be employed for years so I'm trying to just deal with it for the sake of job security. I'm worried that it I go elsewhere I could be unemployed in 6 months.

14. Unless you're a child and have no other frame of reference.
It's also a hard lesson to unlearn if you believed it as a child.

I do agree with Roosevelt when it comes to adults in general.

16. I'm sure that helped her be strong, but there's worse shit thrown at children
in abusive households and her sage words may not resonate easily with children (or former children) who were raised to think of themselves as worthless or at least worth less. Only after they have had lots of support will the aphorism make sense.

tougher for kids to deal with. Absolutely true. There were three locks on her bedroom door in the house she grew up in "to keep my uncles out."

But she's got some dap on the issue.
