Unintentionally hilarious song titles
Edited on Fri Mar-12-04 12:10 PM by RandomKoolzip
Use this thread to name song titles that strike you as pompous, silly, dumb, reveal the songwriter to be unbearably pretentious, make you laugh, chuckle, etc, EVEN THOUGH the songwriter never meant them to be funny. I'll start with a few, then you guys add your own....

Hawkwind: "Psychedelic Warriors (Disappear in Smoke)"

Meatloaf: "Objects in the Rearview Mirror may appear Closer than they Are" (I beleive we could limit this thread to ONLY MEatloaf song titles and still have a grand old time....)

Gino Vannelli: "The Gist of the Gemini"

Johnny Cash: "The Preacher Said, 'Jesus Said'"' (I also believe we could do the same thing with C&W tunes as Meatloaf tunes)

Jimmy Castor Bunch: "Bertha Butt Encounters Vadar"

Captain Beyond: "Dancing Madly Backwards (On a Sea of Air)"

Rush: "By-Tor and the Snowdog"

Remember: UNintentionally funny song titles....

Cocteau Twins: "A Kissed-out Red Floatboat"

Bjork: "An Echo, A Stain"

Yes: "Turn of the Century" (As in: that's how long this song's gonna last until.....)

2. Hey, don't go picking on Captain Beyond
That is the single greatest hard rock studio album of the 70s!

Get thee behind me, Satan!

3. I LOVE Captain Beyond.

But the song titles on their first album are just silly. As is the way they're dressed on the back cover. "I Can't Feel Nothin', (Part One)" is a HILARIOUS title.

Great band, though. "Sufficiently Breathless" is a cool song.

4. Starglow Energy...Oh Wow...Flashback
I just got a digital copy...needless to say I'm sufficiently breathless.

They were the hidden gems inside the Muscle Shoals/Capricorn stable.

Cheers
