3. Other: Japanese anime
At a soft volume. Nothing makes me sleepier, although I do sometimes wonder if I have an unconscious bigotry towards the Japanese. On hard-to-fall-asleep nights I pop in a Japanese anime (Ninja Scroll works well, as does Ghost in the Shell, though I've never seen more than 15 minutes of either) and I'm put like a light. There's just something oddly comforting about the Japanese language.

7. Interesting choice. I know what you mean.
I mean that a conversation in a language you don't understand can become a comforting kind of noise--as long as you aren't expected to participate in it, of course.

9. You're talking about recorded versions?
The actual sound of a thunderstorm at its end is pretty wonderful, the way the thunder just softly rolls in the distance.

Otherwise, I love the rustling of dry leaves in the fall, the sound of thunder from a thunderstorm, and rain falling on the roof.

52. I like a square wave on the LFO (he says geekishly)...
I think I own the only model of analog synth without a built-in noise generator. I end up running a white noise circuit into a Filter Queen (a cool little processor which is unfortunately getting scarcer now that the harsh noise boys have discovered them)

25. John Weise or Merzbow.
Both are almost painful for the first 5 minutes, and then it just washes over me and I'm into it. I use both to sleep to sometimes, which no one in their right mind can or should do. Thankfully, I'm not in my right mind.

43. Your comment on how long it has lasted made me laugh.
Our 1st sound maker from Brookstone quit after about a year. We took it back and received a new one in exchange. Now the 2 we use have lasted 21/2 & 3 years. We shall see. I have a CD player from Brookstone as well, the 1st one we had to return, and again they gave us a free replacement. That has lasted about 6 years now.

we used a large fan. Lying on a soft feather bed, covered with a light blanket and the cool breeze with the gentle whirring, you reminded me of some great earlier days.
