Watching Outbreak again on AMC and I never really caught on that all that's stopping an airborne virus is a line of barbed wire and soldiers with guns, lol. It must since everyone inside the line has to wear masks, but everyone outside the line, even right over the line, can stand there without masks, lol.

1. if i remember rightly, they dont allow you to approach the wire close enough

they slot you from a distance away, the fence is to stop people going in or some such.

2. nope, twice they show reporters giving reports just outside the fence

so maybe the army doesn't give a shit about the reporters.

AND they show troops without masks standing right outside the line too.

3. okay the reporters are probuably authorised to be there, and what you are looking at

is an outer perimeter probuably, or at least thats they way we were taught, if i remember rightly the troops inside that perimeter wore full nbc kit.
