Good morning Lounge
How are you today? It is Wednesday and therefor Hump Day :woohoo: I will have another long weekend. Sunday/Monday is Pentecost here in Germany (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentecost). Sometimes I don't mind living in a country where there are still religious holidays. :D

The hot and sticky weather is over. Now we have temps in the lower 60s. Sunny though :)

Picture of the Day

This dove just pretended to be hurt, guess we were near its nest

Here it is healthy and running around

I guess you are in bed by now. We had a meeting, so I couldn't answer right away.

I took the pics in the Zoo Basel, which is in Switzerland.

What a clever bird! Great shots!

Lucky you with the long weekend :D. Do you have any plans?

This morning I have a dr. appt to have a lesion cut off my leg :scared:. My stepdad is taking me even though it is minor. I am such a chicken for needles that I have to take Xanax before the procedure or it just won't happen.

Last night when I got home there was a subpoena to appear in court on Thursday in the case against the burglars! I should just take the whole week off

It is nice to see someone friendly.

My husband is grumpy because I am up at 5:00 a.m. eating bridge mix for breakfast and writing letters to the editor. What's wrong with that? I saved him some bridge mix.

19. Well
that cleaning part is necessary at my place too. Since I was gone last weekend. At least my clothes are washed already. Might not have to do that. But I need to vaccum and wet-clean the floor. Still have a box of stuff in my computer room. There is enough I need to do. Of course that doesn't take 3 days, so there will be enough time to be a couch potato ... if the weather allows on the balcony :)

They will show a cop drama over the long weekend with Kenneth Branagh. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1178618/ The show is based on the mystery novels by Henning Mankell. I enjoyed reading the books, and there were good critics about the TV drama with Branagh.

but he has been sitting around and no exercise, his hands and feet swelled and show signs of rheumatoid arthritis. He wouldn't take care of himself, and that's the result.

The boss is on vacation, and I normally have to work harder. Series of conference calls all week and I may not get to take the afternoon off to watch the game. :( I'm normally a ManU fan, but today I'll root for Barca.

Actually I'm looking for any job that I have experience in and that I'm qualified for.

In the past, I've done clerical work, technical (chemistry), computer and food service.
The corpoRATions in America have outsourced most, if not all of the technical jobs.
At this point in time, I'm looking to do clerical work.

What do you do at your job?

The mosquitoes always outlast the winters here... they are just too hardy a species to be easily killed by changing seasons.

35. Good Morning.

I'm still coming down from my weird adrenaline sickness. It's hard to explain. My mother says I'm allergic to my own adrenaline. I think she is right.

I felt horrible all day yesterday and I'm sort of still in shock.

I had a "visitor" over the weekend.

It was a brazen (he tried to stare me down) 18 inch long rat snake. I don't know how it got inside. It could have come in when I was bringing the groceries in earlier that evening. The neighborhood dogs greeted me at the car door the minute I got home from the grocery store. They know the sound of my car now. My aunt says they start barking a lot and asking their owners to be let out when my car gets to the top of the hill on the other side of the bridge. I have to be careful when I pull the car in the yard because they are wagging their tails and happy to see me. They are too skinny and I share anything I have with them.

So I was talking to them and searching the fridge for leftovers as much as bringing the groceries in. The snake could have slipped inside the house then. I hope that's what happened. I hope I don't have a den of snakes somewhere in here. I haven't found any more since the other night. I haven't slept much either. I think I had 2 hours of sleep the next day. Been up ever since.

Anyhow, I won the battle, but it scared me pretty bad. Ended up with my typical reaction to excitement or fear; bad bad headache, dizziness, and nausea. It's been hard to make myself eat. I did though.

The cats were no help. Yogi stayed in the next room and careened his head around the corner the whole time. His knees were knocking (he was shaking and scared too) as bad as mine were. Sunday Girl might as well have said in English, "I don't do snakes, Mom. Sorry." My aunt has MS and she was on the toilet when she spotted him in her bedroom. So, she really couldn't help. I had to battle him on my own. I was very very scared. And my machete was dull, which made it even scarier.

What a weekend. I'm still sort of in shock from the whole thing. :wow:

Oh my, what a story. I would have screamed!!! You are very brave to take on the snake. :wow:

My dad once told me a similar story. He and his gf were in France in her house. They had her cat with them. So one night they were in bed already and heard the cat making a fuss. They thought she had her five minutes (she was a real stupid cat). The next morning the came in the living room and saw a dead viper - the cat killed it.

47. My cats aren't that brave, lol.
They hid from it. They also hide from the spiders we get here too. At the old place in the city, they were pretty good at getting anything that came inside, but now, we live in a really forested neighborhood. Everything here either bites, stings, poisons, or just grows 2 feet a week. We even have cow killers here. They are no fun.

Then there are the Carolina Wolf Spiders. I'm trying to get over my fear of them though. They can kill and eat black widows. I want them outside though, not inside. We haven't had any inside recently.

My yard: it's a jungle out there, literally. :wow:

64. 50/50
Once this house sells, he is building a new smaller house as well. It is in the same neighborhood as mine. The kids will be able to walk back and forth. One week with me, one week with him. I'll still see them every day most likely. We are doing it this way to make it easier for them.

67. That is a good idea
and I am glad you can put your feelings aside when it comes to the kids. When my parents separated my brother and I stayed with our dad but my mom lived in the next town where we went to school. We went to her place on Saturdays. It was never a question that we could see her when we wanted to. My parents stayed friends till my dad died.

70. Just got my evaluation and raise..
Have put in for my days off this summer. I think I will hang here until after Labor Day.
Can you tell I hate Job Hunting? Also, I know I will have to give up every other weekend.
I love my weekends off.

60. Good morning.
Finally I am off work.
I liked the holidays in Germany even though I wasn't working there. I remember Sundays in the area I lived (near Munich) EVERYTHING was closed. Here, almost everything is open. Everything being closed on Sundays reminded me of my childhood in the south here. Of course, now most places are open there as well.

:hi:

Stores are still closed on Sundays here. But they are open longer during the week and on Saturdays. It was annoying when everything closed at 2pm on Saturdays.
