Any fans of The Tick animated series on DU?
I'm not the only one, am I? I loved that show. Bizarre adult-themed shit, masquerading as a kids cartoon.

Whatever happened to Ben Edlund, anyway, and is he still doing "the hard stuff"?

4. I loved that show, and the comic, and the live action show too.
Edited on Tue May-26-09 10:08 AM by redqueen
No idea what Edlund's up to now...

But oh my that is my favorite comic ever. :)

OMG... he's writing Supernatural episodes now. So glad Midlo mentioned that show. And now they're showing the season again... yay!

6. He wrote a couple episodes (and directed) for the final season of Angel, too.
He wrote the puppet episode. Figures. Twisted mo-fo.

8. Yeah?
I never watched that show... maybe I should've.

I'm such a fangirl for that comic / show I have little action figures and toys. That's what I'd always look for at sci-fi / comic cons... Tick stuff. :) Never did get all the comics though. Bah.

9. Did you see the comic with Bill the Samurai?
I loved Bill. He baked his katana into a baguette to get it past airport security. He was perfectly paired with The Tick.

My favorite issue is Night of a Million Zillion Ninjas. :)

edit: actually I don't remember the katana in a bagel so I don't have that one... but I am familiar with that character... he's been in a few issues.

14. It was even better when "under the influence", I found.
But that's my personal preference.

However, a show should be watched by someone in the same mental state as the writer was when he wrote it.

25. I just started watching The VB about 5 or 6 weeks ago
I had to go out and get all 3 DVD sets after I'd watched the first few episodes. So good...

Fortunately, my gf kind of enjoys it. Not as much as I do, but I'll take what I can get!

26. Oh, my wife likes the VB, too.
She just hates my "reckless spending". It's always with the "we haven't got the money", and "what are we going to buy groceries with?" and "Will your dvds help us when we're living out of our cars?"

She's such a buzzkill sometimes.

32. I just discovered the live action show, thanks to this thread
and watched every episode today on youtube. That was an awesome show!

I think I like the live action show much more than the cartoon. They changed a lot, but it worked, and I like the more adult oriented approach in the live action show. :P

It's too bad there was only 1 season. :(

34. I'm convinced there are unaired episodes of the live show.
I remember reading Fox was holding back premiering the show, building up a supply of episodes so they'd have fresh programming to run when the expected writers strike hit. Then they only ran about 6 before canceling.

35. You're right about that, actually.
I remeber seeing a dvd of the live-action show, and it included several "unaired episodes" in the set. There are at least a dozen total episodes that I'm aware of.
