Just went to CNN.com and now I'm weeping
The CA supreme court ordered an end to same-sex marriages.

Why do people have to hate each other? So you fall in love with someone whose genitals are very similar to your own. SO FUCKING WHAT??? Jeeeeez, why do they care? What's it to them?

These conservative assholes make me :puke: --- they are such hypocrites. They want the government out of the business of public education, but IN the business of people's bedrooms!! THEIR BEDROOMS!!

God, what's next? An interactive survey before you can get married?

Q.: Do you intend to have non-procreative sex?

A.: Yes

Reply: Tradition dictates that sex is for the purpose of procreation. Your application for a marriage license is denied.

Q.: Do you and your fiancee engage in unusual sexual practices?

A.: I like to be tied up and spanked.

Reply: The State has a compelling interest in maintaining traditional sexual mores. You do not qualify! Your application for a marriage license is denied!

It's disgusting and terrifying and annoying all at once. These people are so gawddamned repressed that they are JEALOUS of people who actually express their true sexuality freely. That has to be it. :argh:

:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr::grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

1. There is still hope
They only ordered them stopped till them make a ruling. At least that's what I thought.

3. Exactly. I'm just as angry.
Now, lets channel that anger into making real change in this country.

4. Yes, I too weep for my fellow human beings....
I'm straight. My wife and I of 10 years are thus "illegal" since
we're having sex for "non-procreative" reasons. Does that make us
less of a "formal marriage"? What's the difference? We're man and
woman? That's ridiculous.

So much for: "they hate us because of our freedoms". Just what
"freedoms" do they hate us for...?

6. they hate us because of our freedoms
Hey, it's the bush forest policy revisited: if forests are the sources of fires, cut down all the forests. No more fires.

If they hate us for our freedoms, just get rid of the freedoms! Now, they don't hate us anymore!

5. Sorry, but until this country embraces its secular greatness and
relegates all religions and their influences to the tolerated sidelines, there's not much hope for such progressive humanism to take root and flourish.

It's that simple.

8. Do not despair.
It was a rough day for my partner and me too. We've been waiting for so long, it seems. Meanwhile, I can go to Las Vegas, pick-up a hooker, marry her, and our relationship would - in the eyes of the govt - have more meaning that my real relationship ever could. You're not the only one pissed.

I'm trying to look on the bright side. Perhaps this will dampen the issue's effect on swing voters in the fall? My theory still stands - equal marriage policy will be decided in the U.S. Supreme Court. Which means that, above all, getting our nominee into the White House in January is the best best best way we can advance this cause.

Think..
Rehnquist could retire.
O'Connor is constantly rumored to want retirement.
Stevens is getting up there in age (well, he's already there)..

First, keep in mind that the GOP is much much much more often disappointed by their court nominees - a rarity for Democrats. If Kerry gets three good replacements, we'd have a court where the Liberal Wing rules with an iron fist, 6 Liberal - 1 Moderate - 2 Nazis. We can't give-up this fight.

9. An excellent point.
Yes, the Supremes will have the final say.

So we have to pick the guy who picks the Supremes.

10. I agree
I used to support civil unions instead of marriage but I changed my mind. Seperate is not equal. The government is supposed to be blind to religion so it cannot decide who gets married. Leave it up to the individuals.

Even as a straight man I will fight for equal rights for gays. We all should. After all if gay marriage is banned the religious reich will most likely go after birth control and reproductive rights next.

What is with repubs and trying to control people's sex lives?
