I'm going to try an evil, ungodly experiment this weekend.
Last weekend I broke the BBQ because the weather's been nice. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to grill, then I decided I'd try shish kebobs, which I've never actually made before.

So I hoped down to my local indian grocery and picked up a package of chicken tikka spices. It's my all time favorite indian food. Tried it out and nearly cried in joy. It was the greatest BBQ decision I've ever made in my life. Cheap, easy, and delicious. You know, I'm pretty sure that indian restaurants here in the states water down their spices for peevish american WASP customers. Because this shit was way more intense.

Any hoo... I'm sitting there eating my chicken tikka, crying, and enjoying a cool beer. I'm noticing this very subtle flavor in the chicken tikka I've always noticed before, it's just a little bit bittersweet, sour because of the lemon juice, sort of nutty but not quite, almost like... cola.

So here's where I came up with the idea for my latest abomination- chicken tikka/coca cola marinade. 1 lb. sliced chicken breast, 1 package chicken tikka, juice of one lemon, and one can of coke. Marinated for 2 hours and grilled on skewers with onions and peppers.

Say what you want about crazy rednecks and our coca cola marinades. I bet you it'll work.

I'll let you know how the cocatikka chicken turns out.

1. I'm such a crazy redneck I don't know why coke marinade seems unusual.

2. There are so many things that coke can be good for.
Have you ever had coca-cola cake? Mmm!

3. Yeah I once had what I thought was a good idea, similar
it was to use fresh pineapple juice in the chicken marinade. I don't know how long I left it on, but suffice it to say that the chicken mysteriously had no texture whatsoever after it was cooked. None.

Apparently the acid cooked it before it ever even saw heat.

Cola may well have the same effect, so be careful.
