Just to let you all know I'm still alive...the jury's still out on that as a long-term
statement, but despite blacking out and ending up at the bottom of a 15-foot bank into the manky swamp across the street yesterday (don't ask), I thought it would be a good idea to let my pals at DU know that I'm still here (though I haven't been "here" at DU for a while). (Fortunately, I landed face-up in the swamp and have a large and strong older son to help drag me out of the muck. Yuck. You can imagine how much Mrs R freaked, and won't even let me go get the mail without using the damn cane anymore.)

The next few weeks are going to be no fun whatsoever, but with a bit of luck will end up with some very positive improvements in my health situation(s).

Cover me, boys, I'm going in.

I'll let you know how it all works out.

13. Steps at a time, my friend. Lumbar MRI to see if it's spinal nerve damage or
the MS that's the major cause of the instability (then to work on an appropriate treatment), then on to the finger-joint replacement.

As I've told my sons, if you hurt yourself badly enough when you're young, don't bother getting old, because it ain't worth the trouble.

26. Never Surrender...
Do not surrender even when defeated,
and do not be a slave even in bondage,
trembling with fear advance bravely,
and attack with fury, though badly wounded.

Be as stubborn as a rusting nail,
that refuses to yield though old and ruined,
and do not envy the peacock's plumage,
that drops in fear at the first noise.

Be as a god that never cries,
or as a devil that never prays,
or as the oak whose mighty canopy,
needs of water but does not beg it.

Even when it rolls to the dust,
let your head scowl and bite,
and scream for vengeance.

- Pedro Palacios Almafuerte
Argentinian poet 1854-1917

Believe it or not, this is my mother's favorite poem.
She is my guiding light.
God bless her and keep her.

37. It's been recurring / remitting since 1978, which meant (believe it or not), is actually
the "good" kind to have, because you have the episodes, then they go away until next time.

Not sure if it's turning into progressive, but let's all hope not.

My best wishes and hopes for your aunt.

42. I should post some pictures.
I have some sunflowers that are about a foot tall, containers of lettuce and radishes and onions are green and full.

Several gourds that are about six inches tall, and some peas that are about two feet tall.

We had some unusual rain this week, it almost never rains in May.

The clouds and moisture were a welcome change to the normal desert precipitation.

64. You'll Love It !!!
If you can afford to buy a new one straight from the factory ~ I suggest that's the way to go. It'll be easier to keep it repaired, tweaked and riding smooth.

I still enjoy my Goldwing but it isn't stable at high speeds ... anything over 75 mph makes the front end lift and wobble. I've purchased 3 new front tires since 2004. If I get any time off the road this year I'm taking it into the Harley dealer up in Mass to see if it needs shims. Last fall my front forks started leaking after I rode it home from P A Rally on the River. I was on Routes 81, 80 and 87. My trike couldn't hold up to the long ride so something needs tweaking.

I don't know when I'll see my home again; http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x8794535
