2. Never *played* in the Super Bowl?
With Arizona's recent near-miss, that leaves only the Saints, Lions and expansion Browns (Release 2.0) and Texans.

4. Brownies have NEVER played in a Super Bowl
Last championship game was 1964. Beat the Baltimore Colts 27-0.

18. You are my brother

I posted below about being terrified the Browns might turn into the Detroit Lions and nothing good will ever happen again. I'll die, like many Lions fans already in their graves, having experienced nothing but futility and disappointment. Makes me shiver as I think of it. Oh God.

8. I don't believe the Jaguars were ever in the Bowl.
Either.

19. No, they were not.
But they, again, are an expansion team. (The original Brownies went to and won an SB as the Baltimore Ravens, but I highly doubt that counts to Clevelanders!)

3. The real fans are the ones that root for teams
regardless of whether or not they have played in the Super Bowl.

5. That's right. Fairweather fans suck.
Plus, it's too easy to root for a winner. Cheering a team that ALWAYS sucks/chokes builds character. (Pats' fans therefore have no character. Squeelers either).

9. I don't see how winning or losing matters
If you like a team, you like the team. A fan of the Patriots is not necessarily a lesser fan than someone who roots for the Lions. That said, I hate the fucking Patriots :P

11. Actually, until 2000, New England was known as the "patsies"
The ones that stuck with them through their long period of suckitude deserve some respect.

6. Cubs fans rule.
After all, we haven't won a World Series since 1908, and haven't been in one since 1945, yet Wrigley Field is still the place to be on a summer afternoon. :)

7. Poor White Sox :(
I live in central Illinois and I was surprised at how everyone said "It would have been so much better if it was the Cubs" when the White Sox won the World Series. Is the president their only fan?

10. Nice post, cboy/upton! I was a Cowboy fan before they played in a Super Bowl.
Still one and always will be.

That's what a REAL fan is! Support their team through the thick and thin!

13. You only said that to be hurtful
We fans of pathetic looser cities/teams do not appreciate your logic.

14. My friend, before the Cowboys became America's team, they were
also considered chokers who could never win the big one.

15. Are you trying to say there's hope?
Now you're sounding like a politician :)

But if they ever win I will no longer be a real fan. Hundreds of thousands of Browns' fans would probably keel over dead the night they win the big one.

They also are a bit hard to understand. :)

16. As a lifelong Browns fan
I feel your pain, but you have suffered far more than I.

I do sympathize with you. Many Lions fans have gone almost half a century with really nothing to celebrate. If you guys ever get any good I'll be pulling for ya. :)

My biggest fear as a Browns fan comes when I consider the Detroit Lions and think, "OMG, that might be happening to us!" :scared:
