Great Music coming up in Fort Worth: it's Van Cliburn International time again
thirty pianist will compete for the world's most prestigious piano prize for the next two weeks, right here in CowTown.

I'm going to help out in a volunteer capacity for the first time this year.

4. it is going to be fun. The volunteer op is in the Press Hospitality Suite
at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel, up the street from the Performance Hall.

The competition will be close circuited into the room on big screen TV .

Also, the entire first round is simulcast into the rehearsal hall next door to the Bass Hall and you can see the whole thing for free, on big screen TV. I did that one year, when I worked in a building nearby. I spent my lunch hours and an hour or two after work in the Maddox Muse Rehearsal Hall, watching the competitors.

The Draw for playing order was today.

It is stream-able on this station: http://www.wrr101.com/?id=1

2. Very very cool.
I went to Fort Worth as a delegate to the 2000 State Democratic Convention.

I could not believe how boooring it was.

The Van Cliburn Competition and 3 art museums. That was all they have. And I didn't get to go to any of them.

3. aww, our town is better than that! And the Van Cliburn
would have been in 2001 though.

I am truly sorry you missed our wonderful museums, all clustered together on a pretty lawn.

5. I liked the angels with trumpets on the front of Bass Hall (?)
That is cool, even though you can't really get out in front of it to see it in all its glory.

Sorta like the NYSE on Wall Street.

Yes, I drove by the museums and noticed where they were on whatever main drag that was.
