12. Funny story

My grandma, my dad's mom had Type II diabetes. Well, that's not the funny part, obviously.

She always said to all of us when we were little. "Don't eat that much candy, you'll get the sugar diabetes"

She died in 1981 at the age of 80 and thought her entire life that she brought the diabetes on herself by eating too much sugar.

So much has changed. My dad had it as well and one of my brothers has high trending blood glucose levels. We all know it was nothing that anyone did to bring on this disease.
