Here's why:

'Angels & Demons' Actor: Dan Brown 'A Terribly Bad Writer'

STOCKHOLM — Actor Stellan Skarsgard says he's no big fan of Dan Brown's writing and accepted a role in "Angels & Demons" only after reading the script based on Brown's book.

"I think Dan Brown is a terribly bad writer, but he has cliffhangers after every chapter which makes you continue reading," Skarsgard told Swedish broadcaster SVT.

"It's like eating peanuts at a bar. You don't like them, but you keep on eating them anyway," he said.

The Swedish actor, who plays the head of the Pope's Swiss guard in the movie, said director Ron Howard's script was significantly different from the book.

<snip>

"Angels & Demons" is better than the first film, Skarsgard said in the interview aired late Wednesday, because "the story is more simple and straightforward but just as dramatic."

:applause:

12. That's old school
You used to get peanuts in bars. Also relatively cheap drinks. Ah, the good old days!

20. Ha....the ones that have sawdust on the floor.
I've been to one where you just throw the shells on the floor. I hate to be messy like that. I like the bars where they serve chips and salsa.

Each one was horrible. x(

At least I didn't pay for them so it's not like I'm encouraging him. :hi:

19. So have I...
I moderately enjoyed the first one (Da Vinci Code), for the reason mentioned in the interview.

By the time I was reading the second (Angels & Demons), I was thinking that it seemed awfully familiar.

The third book I read (the one in the arctic) was the same thing with different characters (it doesn't have the Tom Hanks' character)...

And once I was done with the fourth one I was thinking "I've read the same basic book four times. Let's never do that again...."

The one thing I do like about Dan Brown though: He pisses off the Vatican!

Plus, his 'code experts' can take up to 10 pages to unscramble a simple anagram. In the case of "Digital Fortress" an anagram was a pivotal plot point and took the entire book to solve :eyes:

28. Thanks....
and I know what you mean above...

<Beware: possible spoilers for The Da Vinci Code below>

I remember the end of the Da Vinci code, where they had to solve the last riddle, that was something along the lines of Newton's ball. I immediately thought "Like what, an apple? It's got five letters and all." That was my first thought. The big expert guy needed pages and pages of riddling before coming to the most obvious conclusion. That annoyed me to no end.

And it's true that his experts are always completely clueless until the very moment that the plot requires them to figure things out...

<\spoilers>

Why did I read those books again???
