13. check your fuel line and carb...

some diagnostic questions:

does it smoke when it starts up?

does it run rough and poop out? Or just stop altogether?

does it start easily? or do you have to turn it over?

20. sounds like the carb... if it's getting fuel (starting) but
won't continue to run, usually that indicates a fuel flow issue.

I would also check your plugs. If they have a thick black carbon coating on them, the fuel mixture is too rich and is fouling the engine.

8. What were you doing when it broke?
There's a myriad of ways to muck up the belt thingy whithout even trying hard.
Hope you don't have to replace the belt, it's usually an unpleasant repair.

More details.

16. You're really not giving us enough info to help you here.
For starters: Model #, and YEAR of your tractor.
I can't even START to help you without that.

23. I'll google it, and see if I can find some tech specs to look at....
...so I know what we're talking about.

So, what exactly is it doing (or not doing)?

When you say the "belt drive" isn't working,
are you referring to the belt that operates the Mower Deck?

28. I think it's darling that you call it a "tractor"!
Your "tractor":

Now, around these parts, a tractor is like this Farmall here, they run for decades:

Or this International 1586, used for pulling double sets of trailers through tomato fields:

29. Be nice, now....
Lots of folks don't know any better.
Most of the time, it's not their fault.

They just didn't grow up around tractors,
and when their Lawnmower Dealer uses that term,
they don't know it's ridiculous BS
designed to impress them.
