Pilates vs. yoga
Thinking of starting one of the two. For those that have done it which one do you prefer and why?

2. To things that overlap somewhat
I've tried both:

Pilates - strength-training calisthenics, You can do some mat work on the floor, but to be a serious practitioner, you need a studio with special equipment and a trainer at least in the beginning. It is oddly energizing rather than making me feel worn out afterwards. Especially the beginners' floor exercises.

Yoga - Flexibility and strength training. Work is all mat work. You can set up anywhere you are comfortable. Some additional equipment like blocks or rubber bands for resistance are not required, but nice. Very relaxing and beneficial for stress reduction. Practice is limitless because you don't need special equipment, just more advanced poses for longer periods as you progress.
