Rhine River Cruise (dial-up warning)
Went on a cruise (from Rudesheim am Rhein to St Goar). Saw some castles. Took some pictures. Thought I'd share. :D

2. Amazing that they're still standing!
Do you have any idea what's planted on the hillside in the last one?

3. Grapes. The (middle) Rhine region is known for its wine.

The area is covered in vineyards. Got some pictures of those as well.

There are a lot of these all over

5. Hey, CaliforniaPeggy! We went today. Left out about 5 AM and got
home shortly before 8 PM. Just a short cruise ( about 2 hrs each way) and a LOT of walking! (and some wine sampling, of course!)

You'll love the Rhine!!!

6. You must live there!
Ah, I didn't realize that...

We've been on the Rhine before, but I don't remember which part...

Our trip will involve the Rhine, the Main, a canal (I can't recall the name) and the Danube...I think!

Two weeks of river cruising...

Bern to Budapest!

Cannot fucking wait!

:P

7. Yes. I live in Germany.
Your trip sounds wonderful!!!!

I live about 15 - 20 minutes from the Rhine...not far from the Main either. (or the Neckar) I live in the river valley.

It's called the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal.

11. Cool!
I did one from Biebrich to Braubach with my friend (who lives there) then we hiked up to the Marksburg Castle, then took the train from Braubach back to Rudesheim. Ferry across to Bingen where her Dad picked us up in his car - to some winery for dinner in that area and a drive home back over the Rhine at Mainz during a full moon. Beautiful.

Where do you live?
