2. The Venture Brothers
have parodied Johnny Quest at least twice, once by killing off Race (he was a personal friend of Brock's) and once by turning Johnny into a drug addict adult stuck in an underwater diving bell

5. The Venture Brothers is a great show!

From Jonny Quest to Scooby-Doo to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, no popular characters are safe from the Venture Brother's writers!

10. That was a great interview!
Thanks for that! :D

I'd always wondered who composed the music, as well as who some of the musicians were. Way back in the 90s, I had a radio show on the local Pacifica station (KPFT 90.1fm) and used the JQ theme as my opening. Another dj that did a brilliant jazz show mentioned that back then there were often some famous jazz musicians that played in those bands without credit, just because they liked that kind of work and got to be a part of the cartoons anonymously. I don't know how much truth there is in that since he never named any of the musicians, but I could see that happening, too.

Oh, I loved this quote. Reminds me of Symarip's love for the trombone ;)
But I remember so well recording the MT at RCA in Hollywood. I had to stay in the booth because I was laughing so hard, watching my buddies, the bone players, trying to cut that tune! Nobody would quit of course. It was written in the worst possible key for trombones...LOVE IT!

Also this one:
My pianist, Jack Cookerly, invented the synthesizer as we know it for that show. It was made of orange crates with a keyboard and thousands of vacuum tubes! Everyone in the band fell down.

What a character! :D

8. Apparently they are making a live-action Jonny Quest movie (finally)...
Edited on Fri May-08-09 04:32 PM by PassingFair
but I read that Zac Efron is going to be Jonny.

Isn't he a bit long in the tooth for the role?

And I think it would be PERFECT if Race and Benton
were revealed to be gay thru significant glances
and double entendre.....

12. Had to look up Efron.
The name was familiar, but the face still isn't. However, with a birthdate from 1987, I would agree he's too old. Unless they're going for a college-aged Jonny. I never watched the "New Adventures" of since they had to add new main characters, dumb it down, and make the kids older. So I suspect they are making a live-action of the New Adventures of Jonny Quest and not from the original series
