The USPS food drive is TOMORROW, Saturday, May 9th.
While you're picking up your brown mustard for FOX, get a few items for people who need them. Here is the text from the USPS on "Stamp Out Hunger":
"The National Association of Letter Carriers, in conjunction with the United States Postal Service, will be collecting non-perishable food items like canned meats and fish, canned soup, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal and rice on Saturday, May 9th to help families in need in our community.
You can help by placing your food donation at your mailbox on May 9th before your letter carrier arrives. it will be taken to the Post Office and then delivered to local food banks or pantries. Please do not include items that have expired or those in glass containers."
Every year, I set out a box or several bags (and I buy it all, don't just raid the pantry), even when I've been unemployed. Every year, most of the street is devoid of such bags. Of particular note, there is only one known Republican on the block that I've ever seen put something out - and he couldn't stand Bush.
Please remember! But do check the expiration dates. They are required to throw out anything that is expired.
