"Dear God, you made many, many poor people.
I realize, of course, that it's no shame to be poor.
But it's no great honor either!
So, what would have been so terrible if I had a small fortune?"

1. I can't believe I was in a production of that play back in high school (I was the innkeeper)!
Then again, I also can't believe I played Mr. McAfee in "Bye Bye Birdie."

to "If I Were a Rich Man."

Boys' Glee, Alisal High School, 1971. :)

Now, I can remember a coupla verses — maybe.

17. do you have cable television in your new location?
There's a new program for fall called "Glee", and the network will be previewing it on the 19th.

"Glee" stars Matthew Morrison ("Hairspray" on Broadway) as high school teacher Will Schuester, who tries to turn around the school's glee club, which is populated by misfits and outcasts. Faced with skepticism from all corners, including his own wife (Jessalyn Gilsig, "Nip/Tuck" and "Heroes"), he nonetheless tries to mold the club into the type of top-notch show choir that can make it to a national competition. The show will feature musical numbers each week, ranging from classics to current pop hits.

The cast also includes Jayma Mays ("Ugly Betty," "Heroes") as a sympathetic fellow teacher, Jane Lynch ("Talladega Nights," "Two and a Half Men") as the school's autocratic cheerleading coach and Cory Monteith ("Kyle XY"), Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Lea Michele and Dianna Agron ("Veronica Mars") as students.

19. not to imply that Glee members are misfits and outcasts
In my school, the Boys Glee members were extremely popular and good-looking. And very cool. I was in love with all of them.

11. I was in the orchestra
With weeks of rehearsals and performances, I bet I could STILL recite most of the dialog in that play. Thanks, PTah!

7. Less of a nerd than I, who have the original b'way cast recording
of The Music Man on my iPod. I mean, I don't even have Shirley Jones singing!

6. That's one of the few musicals I've ever felt was worth the production costs of making into a film.
Spectacular writing.
