Like all my wacky ideas, this one just came to me out of the blue. I'm not really into pain and all that kind of stuff but I have a feeling there's a market for these:

1. That's sort of disturbing.

You may be right about there being a market for these, but it mostly reminds me of "prong collars" for dogs.

2. Oh, I realize they're not for everyone

If it's any consolation, I file the prongs down and after trying them for myself, find them a wee bit prickly but not painful. One would have to tie one super tight in order to do any actual damage.

They design is derivative of a metal Cilice:



If you've read The DaVinci Code, you'll recall the albino monk wore one. It's part of that whole self-abuse/penance thing with the hair shirts. From what I've read, the religious types wear them as a sort of self-induced punishment for the sins of vanity. My design is an ironic twist on that idea. An old school cilice is supposed to be just the wire. I have bejewelled mine for the posers and others who want to look like they're all bad-ass.
