Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

On April 3, 2009, at 0618 hours, Stacy Moe, age 52, of Big Lake, reported the burglary of a business at 935 E. Westpoint Drive. Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the Wasilla Police Department at 352-5401 or Mat-Su Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.


On April 3, 2009, at 1025 hours, Wasilla Police were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Hermon Road at Sun Mountain. Investigation revealed a 2000 Ford pickup driven by Dale Chalender, age 52, of Eagle River, had collided with a 2007 Chevrolet pickup driven by Dustin Hattenburg, age 21, of Palmer. Chalender had been stopped at the intersection of Sun Mountain and eastbound Hermon Road. Chalender proceeded across the intersection and failed to give the right of way to Hattenburg, who was northbound on Hermon Road from the Parks Highway. Chalender was cited for failing to exercise due care to avoid a collision. Both vehicles were moderately damaged but there were no injuries.


On April 3, 2009, at approximately 1545 hours, Wasilla Police responded to the parking lot of Arby's for a report of some individuals doing drugs. An investigative impound was placed on the vehicle of the individuals involved and the investigation continues.


On April 3, 2009, at 1728 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a dispute over the ownership of a vehicle. During the investigation, police made contact with Douglas Deisenroth, age 55, of Wasilla. A records check revealed there was an outstanding arrest warrant for him for failing to appear in court for an original charge of Driving While his License was Revoked. The check further indicated that his license was still revoked and he admitted to driving the vehicle to his residence. Deisenroth was arrested on the warrant and for a new charge of DWLR and was held at the Mat-Su Pretrial facility in lieu of $500 bail and that he not be released until sober, as he had alcohol in his system, but the level did not exceed the legal limit.


On April 3, 2009, at 1953 hours, Jennifer Clark, age 38, of Palmer, was stopped due to a report of erratic driving from a REDDI report. Clark exhibited signs of being under the influence and failed a series of field sobriety tests. A records check revealed she did not have a valid operator's license and Clark was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Driving Without an Operator's License.


On April 4, 2009, at approximately 0435 hours, Wasilla Police stopped Raymond Ellison, age 23, of Wasilla, at Bogard Road and Main Street for disregarding a stop sign and speeding. Investigation revealed that Ellison’s license was also suspended. Ellison was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and driving on a suspended license. Bond was set at $250 cash or corporate.


On April 4, 2009, at 0541 hours, a citizen called in a possible drunk driver who was traveling northbound on the Parks Highway. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Judith Wood, age 46, of Palmer, for Driving Under the Influence. Wood was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where bail was set at $500 unsecured.


On April 4, 2009, at 1946 hours, Wasilla Police received a call from an employee at Fred Meyer reporting a juvenile female in custody for shoplifting. The juvenile had taken $76.76 worth of merchandise. The juvenile was released to her parent and theft charges are being forwarded to Juvenile Intake.


On April 5, 2009, at 0124 hours, Wasilla Police stopped Greg Way, age 42, of Wasilla for passing in a no passing zone on Knik Goose Bay Road. During the investigation, Way was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Driving While his License was Suspended, Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the 4th degree and he had a warrant for Failing To Serve a Jail Sentence. No bond was issued.


On April 5, 2009, at 0150 hours, Wasilla Police responded to 505 E. Herning Avenue for a report of a possible burglary. Guardian Security reported they had received a signal from an interior motion alarm. When Guardian arrived they found a hole had been knocked in the back wall next to the rear door. Investigation revealed someone had cut into the back wall of the store next to the back door. The investigation continues.


On April 5, 2009, at 0454 hours, Wasilla Police stopped Brittany Scott, age 26, of Wasilla, for disregarding a stop sign on Tommy Moe Drive at Swanson. Following a stop and subsequent investigation, Scott was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Bond was set at $500 unsecured.


On April 5, 2009, at 1342 hours, Wasilla Police stopped a vehicle for a moving violation and made contact with Amber Martin, age 30, of Wasilla. An investigation revealed that the registration plate displayed on the vehicle did not belong to that vehicle. The investigation continues.


On April 5, 2009, at 1639 hours, Wasilla Police responded to 875 W. Commercial Drive for a report of three juveniles possibly drinking alcohol. Investigation revealed two of the juveniles ages 14 and 15 had been drinking alcohol and charges of Minor Consuming Alcohol are being forwarded to Juvenile Justice on them. The juveniles were released to their parents.

2. NJ has a ridiculous amount of taxes and they gave out 35,000 tickets
in three months in my county. 95% of them for totally stupid shit.

4. We have a police and fire log in our local newpaper, too.
My favorite report was the accident with the train.

Seems a guy was towing a car into the car repair place, which was below the tracks. For some reason he had it on a very long tow line. So our local tourist train chuffs into town on its daily stop. The guy decided he could beat the train and got his own vehicle over the tracks. The towed vehicle didn't make it. The train caught the tow line and pulled both vehicles slap up against the side of the engine.

Gotta love small town life.
