Decision on "Chuck" Delayed for a Week or More
Chuck star Zachary Levi reveals to E! exclusively that NBC will not renew or cancel beloved spy dramedy Chuck for at least another week. Cast and crew had originally expected to hear before Monday's planned NBC "infront" presentation to advertisers.

FAAHHHHHHHHHHHCK!

As if NBC has anything better to run against "House"...

1. Remember when they used to let shows find their audience?
Case in point: "Cheers". It was almost canceled during the first season.

2. Another example: Family Guy
It was actually canceled by Fox, then found its audience, then was reinstated after it found that audience.

3. why cant a show just end when it has run it's course and the story has been told?
just like Life on Mars did this past season and as Lost should have done many many many many moons ago

6. Lost was planned for 6 seasons
Edited on Mon May-04-09 03:07 PM by charlie and algernon
This is season 5, so unless they pull a fast one and end it next week, we have one more season.

On edit: I just looked it up and found that ABC has said that Lost will definitely end after it's 6th season next year.

9. really wow, after the first two seasons it looked like it went off the rails
I stopped following it when it looked like they were making stuff up as they went along.

10. it's gotten a bit out there
I was starting to lose interest, but this season has gotten somewhat back on track with it's focus on time travel. They get really scattered sometimes, but knowing there is a set end, gives hope that everything will be wrapped up in the remaining 18 or so episodes.

4. After the season finale, I'm a little concerned.
Giving Chuck kung fu powers could wreak havoc on the whole nerd persona. It was a fun episode, but it could paint the writers into a corner.

5. I had a problem with that too
Yes, it was nice to see Chuck go all Kung Fu on the bad guys, but clearly that can't continue if the series is going to maintain the out-of-place nerd feel to it. Super Chuck is just wrong.

13. There could always be some quirky "glitch" in that power...
I hope they renew...

7. True, but we don't know that he'd get to keep those powers
Seems they could be taken away as easily as he got them, depending on how the plot goes. That is, IF the show is allowed to continue. :(

12. I think it might be funny...
if he gets to keep them, but has very little control over it. So he's sitting there eating soup in the restaurant, in comes a Fulcrum agent, and Chuck inadvertently breaks out with the kung fu.

11. It's all about ratings, not quality
Not to mention Chuck is up against House, whereas Heroes is up against 24.

16. Heroes' ratings aren't much higher
Last weeks season (series?) finale of Chuck got 6.11 million and the Heroes finale got 6.39 million. Not much of a difference.

I hope Chuck makes it.

14. I've been pretty out of touch with TV culture for a while...
...but when did it become possible to get away with a term like "dramedy?" Sheesh.

15. Contrived term, but apt in this case
At times the show has laugh-out-loud lines as good as "The Office", and at other times very touching moments. And pretty cool action scenes.

In most any other time slot it'd be kicking major ass.

"Chuck" was funny for the first season, but since then its been kind of soap opera-ish.
