4. Official open is Friday, you may have Thursday night showings as well.
I'd suggest buying tickets in advance and expecting to get in line early if you want a decent seat. My experience is that even badly reviewed Star Trek movies sell out on the opening night.

And opening night is the time to go. Sure, it's crowded, and you have to stand in line to get a good seat, but the line is really fun (you get to chuckle at people geekier than yourself, there's usually at least two dorks dressed as Klingons who will mock fight each other, sometimes there's trivia for prizes or something) (maybe that's not true everywhere- Sacramento's home to a disproportionate number of dorks) and it's great fun.

8. I'm in rural Minnesota
Although I bet if I caught the showing at the Mall of America on Friday night...

Ack, but that would be expensive and I'd have to bring along the 4-year-old...

*sigh*

Next week the kid's off with the grandparents. But not this week.

I saw the midnight showing when Lucas rereleased "Star Wars" and "Empire Strikes Back" back in 1997... that was fun! Fans in costume, and the entire place was buzzing!

at "Empire", when the movie started the sound was really low. The noisy crowd began chanting "Louder! Louder!", so the guy turned up the sound. It wasn't enough, though, and pretty soon... "Louder! Louder!" So the guy turns up the sound more. But.. "Louder! Louder!"

Then the guy cranked the volume to maximum, all the way up to 11.

There was a hush in the crowd, then a burst of wild cheering!

It was fun!

10. I made OC buy them for me since I was working on his computer.
Turns out when his power supply went out it took his motherboard with it on his desktop. So when his Newegg shipment comes in, I get to do more computer surgery replacing his mobo, CPU and graphics card.

I think I'm going to make him buy me a delivery from the vegan Vietnamese place once I'm up to my elbows in his gaming rig and he can't say no.

11. I wasn't really interested in this until I found out Simon Pegg plays Scotty.
You know, the red-headed guy from Shaun of the Dead.

I like him.

12. I'm planning to go to a midnight show
I am more of a TNG and DS9 fan than a TOS fan but it's STAR TREK so of course I'll see the first show I can.

13. No.
My wife and I might go opening weekend, though, something we haven't done, I think, since LotR.

14. I'd rather see Rose return to Doctor Who and the two of them go at it, hardcore.
And trust me, I hate the show's new soap opera format so there is no way in hell I want to see the show warped from its original premise and format and intellectual depth any further.

I really need to be sold on the new Trek reboot; everything I've seen on screen so far is just taking the Trek copyrighted figures and using them in yet another generic plot. That doesn't mean there won't be any good set pieces, but as trailers more often than not show the best bits in a movie, I've seen a screen full of computer generated spaceships and an obligatory sex scene.

Now if we could get refunds on movies then I'd risk it. My time is valuable too. Like "no refunds" for music CDs and movie/TV DVDs, it's partial thievery.
