Poll question: A Question for the Lounge Ladies:
Edited on Sat May-02-09 10:53 PM by OmahaBlueDog
Here's the situation: You are a wife and mom (picture Emma Thompson married to Alan Rickman in "Love Actually"). You find out that your husband/SO has cheated on you. What would you do? Mrs. OBD, me, and my Mom were discussing "Love Actually", and there were very differing opinions on Emma's handling of the situation.

1. Why would I ask ME to leave?
I'd guage the seriousness of the situation and then either scream at him to leave ro guilt him to fucking death and yes, it would involve jewelry, and probably Costa Rica. :P

3. if it was a one time thing I would be pissed and probably get a
trip to Ireland out of it but in all honesty if he was having an emotional affair (even if there was no sex) with another woman, then I would Bobbit the mo'fo!

5. I want to be the first guy to say this...
that's not a conversation you should have with your wife and mom. Or your wife and one of her girlfriends. Or her and a sister. Or her and a total stranger that happens to be female. Or even just her.

:scared:

9. We were discussing the movie: it came up
My mom admires how well Emma Thompson plays the scene when she figures out Rickman is cheating on her.

I have gone through my adult, married life with a look-but-don't-touch policy. It keeps life much simpler.

7. Haven't seen the movie.
Probably shouldn't suggest how I'd react if my SO were cheating on me, as if it ever did happen the prosecutor would probably read this post to a jury later, and it could effect my sentence.

Don't really have to worry about that though. He's not like that. And he knows me well enough to know that would be a very bad idea. ;)

8. This is fun.
I only say this because I'm 51 years old and have been through a lot. I don't know about the movie in question, but I can tell you that the more dependent (financially and otherwise) a woman is on a man, the more this will rile her.

When I was in my thirties, I used to obsess about this stuff. I don't anymore. I don't care.

11. Depends upon the situation.
If we're talking a one nighter, fall off the wagon, damn that was stupid moment, I would not be happy and I'd have words. However, I'm not under the impression that either hubster or I are saints and we do make mistakes. I'm not ending our marriage over a mistake.

On the other, if he's leaving tracks all over the county, then I'd find the meanest, most man hating lawyer in the state and leave him without a wife and the window and the pot. Might compromise on underwear and shoes.

If it's a long term affair, then fine, game over. She can clean up after you.

13. I am a guy so I did not vote,
but if my wife cheated on me I would try to work it out. The shopping trip may be nice, but I would get video games and horrific movies over jewels.
