Psychological question
Why do some people have to make noise all the time?

i have a co-worker ( and I use the term advisedly) who comes into my office when I'm working and taps her fingers loudly on my desk until I have to stop what I'm doing and respond to her. If I hold up my hand to indicate I'm busy, she freaks out.

She also wears a dangly bracelet and makes a shit load of noise with it when she uses the mouse, types very hard ( I swear the keyboard is gonna have a stress fracture) and clicks her pen continuously whenever we have an office meeting.

If I had a gun I'd shoot her.

Does anyone have any psychology training? Why does she behave that way?

1. How old is she? How old are you?
How long have you worked there? How long has she?

What is your professional relationship? Is one of you (nominally) subordinate to the other in the food chain?

3. I'm 49, she's 47

I am also a woman, I am higher ranking than she is but she thinks she's the boss. She is not especially bright but refuses to take direction, she makes remarks about foreigners and loves Lou Dobbs and also wears half a bottle of perfume to work.

Oh and she's never wrong and tries to alwsy blame me or our other co worker whenever she makes a mistake. My other co worker can't stand her either.

2. I'm married to her male counterpoint
He's not even aware he's doing it 99% of the time. It's how he's wired; when he's concentrating, he taps out what I call the 'rappy-tappy song' without knowing he's doing it. I'm not sure he could stop doing it if he wanted to.

He's a software engineer, so draw whatever conclusions from that you want (except he's not fashionably autistic).
