I like the way it came out in the OP. Not glamorous, a little fuzzy, imperfect- kinda like the rest of us.

I did the shadows with charcoal and then coated the paper with shellac. I painted the whites with oil.

plus I like to blend it with my fingers

I was used to the ease of erasing and the preciseness of graphite.

The paper was coated in shellac after I put down the charcoal. The white was oil.
