Edited on Fri May-01-09 08:32 PM by Gormy Cuss
most loungers seem to believe I'm of the male persuasion.
Chances are good that they think the same of you. Hard-headed Yankee wimmin seem to send off that vibe in the internet tubes.

2. I've never felt an earthquake
I feel jealous when people tell me they just felt the earth move. I for some reason have never been aware of any movement below my feet. :(

Most of them are harmless...just a bit of rocking underneath...

Move to California, into an active earthquake zone, and you will eventually feel one!

14.  I worked in Marin County in a one-story building on a cement pad
If a cement mixer, dump truck, or other heavy truck stopped at the intersection near us and idled the pad would shiver and we'd look at eachother with wide eyes,"earthquake?" , then, noticing the engine rumbling, we'd resume what we had been doing.
Sometimes there reallly was a little quake and the patients waiting for the docs would poke their heads out of the treatment rooms.
Once I was at a beach house north of San Francisco when a small earthquake occurred under the ocean. That one felt like I was standing on a skateboard and someone gave it a few pushes back and forth a half an inch or so.

Minor earthquake hits west of Los Angeles

Friday, May 1, 2009

(05-01) 18:36 PDT Malibu, Calif. (AP) --

A minor earthquake struck west of Los Angeles in the Santa Monica Mountains on Friday. No major injuries or damage were immediately reported.

A preliminary report said a magnitude-4.4 quake hit at 6:11 p.m., about seven miles northwest of Malibu, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake jiggled the greater Los Angeles region during afternoon rush hour and was felt as far north as Lancaster in the Mojave Desert to southern Orange County, according to online resident reports gathered by the USGS.

Kerstin Edwards, who lives a few miles from the quake's epicenter in Westlake Village, said she felt the temblor while she was upstairs in her house. She noticed no damage.

19. just type "earthquake" into google
Like 'weather' or 'time' it brings up a google feature at the top of the list:

Magnitude Location Time
5.5 Alaska Peninsula 49 minutes ago
4.4 Greater Los Angeles area, California 1 hour ago
5.9 Solomon Islands 21 hours ago
