Heard sonme doctors talking on the radio today about how this strain is actually kinda mild, all things considered, and shouldn't be any big deal as flus go. Besides, it responds to flu medicines pretty well. (I always thought the past flu pandemics killed largely because of social conditions, poverty, poor overall health, etc, so we're in pretty good shape. But, what do I know?)

Then they started talking about 20--30 million people a year, many hacking and coughing, as they pass through Mexico City's airport. Like airports have never been a disease vector before...

But, I ain't gonna start nothing in GD. Last time I went in there I was the bad guy, and I don't wanna see any doctors, nurse, immunologists or anyone else who might actually have the slightest idea what the fuck they're talking about get beat up any more than they have been. And I sure don't want anyone to know what I think about the rights of someone hacking his guts out just as he's about to board a plane I'm on.

You know how you can stay safe...WASH YOUR HANDS. At this point..its really quite simple. I'm thinking the people in Mexico who are very sick had direct exposure to animals..because alot of times zoonotic (infection from animals) is the more serious infection...
Right now, I would say take normal precautions you would but don't be overly scared. Something to watch..Also this is the end of flu season so HOPEFULLY the spread won't be too quick

3. I have been hearing for years that picking your nose...

is the worst thing you can do. Sends those little cold and flu virii right through the mucous membrane and into your bloodstream. Faster than eating virus encrusted food.

(Unless, of course, you wash BEFORE picking your nose.)
