Easily the best Trek movie since The Wrath of Khan, and a veritable feast of sight and sound

The most exhilarating Trek to date marks a new future for Kirk and co. If this can boldly go on to seek out ideas to match its speed and style, a franchise is reborn.

Reintroduces critical elements the franchise has not seen in years - cultural relevance, suspense, and a fresh sense of wonder

A stupendous production, Star Trek goes where no movie sequel or prequel has gone before in bringing intelligence and invention to a peak in cinematic storytelling.

Script: tick. Casting: tick. Direction: tick. Special effects: tick. It's an extraordinary achievement and great entertainment for all as we partake in an edge-of-seat thrill-ride.

Revitalizing the stagnant franchise, the gifted, visionary Abrams has performed a magical act, a movie that stands on its own merits and will recruit new fans, a work that will please the old trekkies and one that points to potent direction in the future.

1. This might just be a 'must see in theaters' one for me.

5. Last theater-worthy movie for me was Quantum of Solace
Looks like this one will be next.

2. Wow, and they're not just ten pretty good/B-minus/3 out of 5 star reviews
They're gushing.

7. The only non-gushing review so far
is IGN's Orlando Parfitt who gave it 3.5/5 and described the plot as a mess but goes on to say that "Pine and Quinto are superb as Kirk and Spock" and that "any movie fan -- even if they've never seen an episode of Star Trek in their lives -- will give a damn about the central characters problems, their frustrations and their friendships."

3. I'm going with a bunch of other geeks.
We'd go even if it were going to be crap, but I'm super excited that it appears it's actually going to be a good movie.

4. I'm glad to hear that, because the trailers make it look like utter shit
But if a place as intense and critical as rotten tomatoes is scoring it highly, that gives me A LOT of hope!

6. Wasn't "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" hyped similarly?

8. I honestly don't remember the early review TPM

TPM is a 64% on the tomatometer, just four points above "rotten."

9. Oh, let it be true!
I may even venture out to a theater for the first time in about 10 years if the reviews continue to sound like that. :bounce:

10. Let's just hope the movie theaters don't get closed because of the flu!
