I am amazed at how easy it has been to reduce my meat intake
I dont know if you guys know (or frankly, care) but lisa and i decided to reduce our meat intake drastically. I am vegetarian for most of the week. Last week, i had one meat meal and one fish meal. To be very honest, it hasnt seemed much sacrifice at all.

who knew?

4. Awesome.
I've noticed a number of your threads where you've mentioned eating more vegetarian more often. It sounds like a positive experience for you, so I'm happy for that.

5. I'm not sure I could do it
and it's not that I wouldn't enjoy other foods, but I need to concentrate on protein and iron.... and meat really fits the bill for those nutrients.

7. I did the Atkins Diet, which is no carbs, loads of protein.
I did no meat - but lots of cheeses and eggs. I don't eat meat - and the diet worked perfectly. And you can always take iron supplements.

Just a thought. :)

8. I feel so much better since I've cut red meat out
now I'm working on cutting spam. I love cooking with the stuff. I had turkey-spam fried rice for lunch (and there's enough for three more meals)

11. unless it's good meat (organic bison) beef burgers will make me ill
ever heard of Ted's Montana Grill? Ted Turner owns a chain of restaurants that offer good beef and bison steaks and burgers

Bison is the way to go if you've got to eat red meat

18. Curiously, as much as we joke about SPAM (and being vegetarian, I do so frequently)...
... it is actually pretty decent as far as processed meat is concerned - at least the ingredients. Nothing at all like "potted meat food product" or whatever they put in those little Vienna sausages.

9. Yeah, it is not as hard as it seems.
I've cut back a significant amount over the past year. Still addicted to chicken, though. (Though I have found some really good alternatives that I try to use as often as I can.)

Side note, your sig graphic is awesome.

14. It really isn't that hard. Unless you are a huge meat lover which,
thankfully, I am not. I eat more veggies than anything anyway. Way to go!

17. I stopped eating red meat when I was a teenager -- one of the best decisions ever.
I've never missed it. In fact, the smell of it is x( to me.

Actually, congrats!

If you ever want any recipes or tips, feel free to ask.

Btw, have you been to Red Bamboo (140 W 4th) yet? I went Friday and it was amazing and I plan on going back to try more goodies.

23. I don't live there yet, but I am visiting a lot lately
and moving there in June. I've been coming into town to see friends, check out apartments, etc., almost once a month until then. I'll shoot you a PM if you want to try to meet up when I come in mid-May if you want.

I'm not a pure vegan, still like dairy and eggs (or stuff made with dairy and eggs) once in awhile but no meat. Don't miss it at all!
