I've been lucky (relatively speaking) this past year. This year seems to be even better, but taxes will kill me. If I can save and save on taxes, it would much better. How much can I save tax free (IRA, school fund for kids etc)? What is the maximun?

And, where do you suggest I put my money (what firm or fund)? Right now I just don't want to miss the deadlines, so, anywhere where I can pull it out (with less fees) and move it is fine. Later on I will sit down with a financial advisor and sort things out.

I will check this in a while to see. I know the info is out there, but hopefully one of you knows it by heart :)

last year's IRA maximum went up to $3000

depending on your income, you may want to consider a ROTH IRA...If you think you are at your peak earning years, and will be earning less near retirement, a regular IRA is probably best cuz you get a fat deduction...but if you hace many years to go, a roth is a good thing...allowing tax free compounding and withdrawal..but no deduction.
